Glow Lyrics
show the scars
of every fear and doubt
i hurt myself
to let the darkness out
out...
the days go bye
and nothing brings me joy
the glow was strong
when i was a boy
but it's gone
and the glow
it goes
so slow
it goes
cracks appear
and passion slips away
colors fade
and turn to shades of grey
fade away
and the glow...
if you knew the man i used to be
please hold me under the sea
or scratch my arms till they bleed
save me
will you help me to feel the glow?
of every fear and doubt
i hurt myself
to let the darkness out
out...
and nothing brings me joy
the glow was strong
when i was a boy
but it's gone
it goes
so slow
it goes
and passion slips away
colors fade
and turn to shades of grey
fade away
please hold me under the sea
or scratch my arms till they bleed
save me
will you help me to feel the glow?

Actually, the correct lyrics are:
"I show the scars of every fear and doubt I hurt myself to let the darkness out Out
The days go by and nothing brings me joy the glow was strong when I was a boy But it's gone
And the glow It goes So slow It goes
Cracks appear and passion slips away Colors fade and turn to shades of grey Fade away
If you knew the man I used to be Please hold me under the sea Or scratch my arms till they bleed Save me Will you help me to feel the glow?"
Written down exactly like that. I'll be submitting correct versions of all of the incorrect lyrics of Blackfield. In the comments. Sorry for being an ass. ;)
To me, the "Glow" is the joy you felt at being alive when you were a child. But as you grow older and are forced to adjust to society, you realize the world isn't as beautiful as you once thought, and the happiness and passion you once felt slowly disappears. It's something I feel deeply.
i love that last passage. it gives me the creeps. and i want to scream the lyrics. i am not sure about the meaning of it...
Deep depression, self injury...
And for god's fucking sake, this lyrics are so damn' fucked up, I mean they're totally wrong!!!
Correct version is: show the scars of every fear and doubt i hurt myself to let the darkness out out...
the days go bye and nothing brings me joy the glow was strong when i was a boy but it's gone
and the glow it goes so slow it goes
cracks appear and passion slips away colors fade and turn to shades of grey fade away
and the glow...
if you knew the man i used to be please hold me under the sea or scratch my arms till they bleed save me will you help me to feel the glow?
Now - it's completely fuckin' different!
Sorry for swearing. It's such a beautiful song I coudn't bear reading misheard lyrics...
Thanks, I have corrected the lyrics.
I must say, after my recent Hell lately, that this song has helped me through a great deal of pain. I'm grateful for great music like this.
"The days go 'bye'"? I don't think that's an intentional pun from Steve...
yeah. is that bye intentional? kinda neat.
My favorite song of this album. I guess everyone can at least sometimes relate to that except for the self-injury line ("I hurt myself to let the darkness out" is such a wonderful description for that btw.!). I especially love the chorus lines because that's something I always felt myself. It's not like something's gone from one day to another, but while growing up it slowly disappears and you can do nothing about it.
You can always rely on Blackfield for positive, up-lifting lyrics! Ha! The music is absolutely amazing though.
