Am I Missing

i just had the biggest epiphany about this song. the "its a long way for an answer, is there any news, is there any word..." is the living friend talking about a car crash maybe.... asking if drinking and driving was worth it(thats how i see it) and the second part of the chorus "is there anything....." thats the dead person, hes talking about life, and how nothing in your life means anything in the end, because no matter what happens in your life, you die. so nothing matters. atleast thats how i see it anyways

Okay, well your all on the right track i think... As most dashie fans know, Chris's cousin justin died in a car wreck (hence the song "for Justin" very sad indeed) Note: fresh new coma, brace for the impact, was the bosy found etc... Anyways, that prolly influenced him to write this song... I believe the two "chris's" singing the different parts are supposed to represent two different people. How fortunate that for chris that emo songs can almost always have two meanings... i'm sure it was written for Justin, but can been seen in the relationship light as well... Damn you emo kids, always thinking songs are about breaking up, lol...

soooooo ill definitely be the only one with THIS interpretation but my friends and i recently got certified as EMTs and we made a cd of emergency medicine related songs (very emergency by the promise ring, bandages by hot hot heat....) for an EMT party we had. hah as it turns out we were actually able to read relevancy into several dashboard songs since most of them involve airway breathing or circulation. this song however was definitley the most directly relevant and so not everytime i hear "was there trauma or a struggle am i missing or was the body found" all i can think of are spinal injuries hah. ahh and if you could not send me hate mail for being a dork that would be just greaaat.

i think its about waking to the realisation of who you've become. and then being able to walk away and start again. but you always know someone will be sorry the moment didn't last.

To me it sounds like the end of a relationship, when you start doubting everything 'Was it worth it when it was over?' and then wondering what there is that's worth living for. The song seems to change subjects though, the first lines in the chorus seem to be about a murder or something similar. Dunno...

I think is about a cryme, a murder maybe, because of the part of "Am I missing, or was the body found?" but I think it just talks about life.. The parts of "is there anythng..." is like questioning if is there anything in this life worth for being here.

I've never heard the song, so I only have a general idea of the meaning, but to me it seems like two things: one, someone talking to someone who died, and two, what someone would think after they are dead.
The first stanza is the living guy, asking his dead friend if his life was worth it. He is wondering about his life, whether he lived it to the fullest, what he could have done different. Then one part of the second stanza asks if there is anything worth anything--worth living or dying for--since in the end we're all going to die anyway. The other part of the second stanza is the dead friend, wondering about how he died, since it probably happened too fast.

Really loose estimate...again, i've never heard the song, only seen the written lyrics.

This song is problably one of if not the best on A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar. I think "thetroutscout" has the best guess to what this song is about. But the lyrics are still beutiful just like all of his songs. So much passion in em. Chris rocks
