Sand In My Shoes Lyrics
Two weeks away it feels like the whole world should've changed
But I'm home now
And things still look the same
I think I'll leave it till tomorrow to unpack
Try to forget for one more night
That I'm back in my flat on the road
Where the cars never stop going through the night
To a life where I can't watch sunset
I don't have time
I don't have time
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused but
I wanna see you again
Tomorrow's back to work and down to sanity
Should run a bath and then clear up the mess I made before I left here
Try to remind myself that I was happy here
Before I knew that I could get on the plane and fly away
From the road where the cars never stop going through the
night
To a life where I can watch sunset and take my time,
Take all our time
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused but
I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
Two weeks away, all it takes to change and turn me around I've
fallen
I walked away and never said that I wanted to see you again
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused but
I wanna see you again
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you
But why would I want to

Anything else would've been confused but

I wanna see you again

I love this song. Just the verses, though, really. It so perfectly describes the way you- or at least I- feel at the end of a vacation. The chorus I could do without... as for what it's about... She met some guy while she was on vacation, and they fell in love, and then at the end of their trips they both went home to whatever far-apart places they live, and she misses him, but knows that trying to have a long-distance relationship with him would be horribly impractical. Plus they both agreed not to try to have one, which she now regrets. And also she's not happy to be back from wherever she was, obviously.
The music in this song, along with the lyrics just puts me in a good mood. I can't even describe why..it's just one of those songs that lifts you out of anything.
agreedwink
the music definitely fits the lyrics. this song is basically about how we (people) are always rushing and never really live before we die. and it's kind of self-explanatory that it is also about someone she still cares about and wants to see again.
Yeh, seems to me like its about a holiday romance, she knows its in the past and has to move on but just cant get it out of her head, like most of us after a great holiday its is well depressing coming back to out lives, wicked song, wicked words, I think i'll always have sand in my shoes!! LOL

aint that the truth... its amazing what you'll miss when you don't have the time
i actually just got back from a 2 week-long trip and just discovered this song this morning. its eerie how perfectly it describes how i feel after coming home from a fantastic trip.
The lyrics to this song are hardly obscure -- anyone can understand the vocabulary. Except maybe her use of 'sanitation,' which I assume is a British term for some kind of waste disposal utility. Anyway. c_c
What this song does describe that I like so much is that floaty feeling one gets when fantasy bleeds into real life. Nobody "has time" really per se, but vacation and falling in love are the two situations that even Jane Blow can find herself in. They're excuses for even the most analytical and boring people to -turn loose- their responsibilities and let themselves be alive for a bit. Maybe forever.
Although it seems sad in away about leaving someone on holiday. It does have a real happy feeling to it. Reminds me of sun, sea sand etc
As Rachondaloose quoted, those lines are my favorite. I can really relate to the returning to "reality" theme of the song. Not so much to the love theme.
