I'm so childish, a little bit wildish
With my rumdiddlyumdiddlyumdiddly, I'm so deep

Well I'm so garish, a little unfairish
The way I pick you up, and drop you in a heap

I'm so unfaithful, in fact I'm a plateful
I won't kiss her, but I'll stare her up all night

I'm a stormy little singer, an unstable little swinger
If you're coming, come prepared for a fight

Well I'm so childish, a little bit wildish
With my rumdiddlyumdiddlyumdiddly, I'm so deep

Well I'm so uncaring, do far too much swearing
And if you read through my behaviour, you'll find I'm a creep

I'll play a stormer, yet in the corner
I'll be grumpy on my own, like I don't care

I'm a stormy little singer, an unstable little swinger
With a big rip, in the arsehole of my flares

Well I'm so childish, a little bit wildish
With my rumdiddlyumdiddlyumdiddly, I'm so mad

I'm so truthful, a little bit bruteful
But in sooth I know not, why I am so sad

I try my bestest, well as far the restest
Well it's just stuff that comes out wrong, and gets misunderstood

I'm a dandy little dreamer, a doctored misdemeanour
A didactic destiny schemer, bare with me if you would

Oh, what a delicious little song. Self-deprecating, tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic humor to be savored.

I am in love with this song. It makes being a total jerk totally fun. (Did I really just type that?)

it's cute and fun. it reminds me of my friend who is never serious. he's always playing around.

"I try my bestest, well as far the restest Well it's just stuff that comes out wrong, and gets misunderstood"

he's trying to be funny, but sometimes his jokes are taken too seriously, or sometimes he goes too far. he doesn't mean to actually hurt anyone.

"But in sooth I know not, why I am so sad"

sometimes he has emotions that he can't express and can't understand, but he has to hide what he feels because no one expects him to be sad. he has to play the clown even when he doesn't feel like it.

i think hes tryign to show the poeple that care about him, like his parents for example, that hes still ok even though hes depressed as fuck. hes sort of trying to bullshit them maybe?

This is one of those "gets stuck in your head songs". I think that it is a great counter-balance to the other heaver music he has written. He often comments about how down most of his songs are - childish is certainly not down (yet it is not shallow pop either).

I also think that, taken by itself, this might be a great song, but as a part of the Damien Rice collection, it is great.

i saw him perform this song last night and he said that he wrote this song after many years of observing singer/songwriters (hinting at himself as well). if youve ever tried to date a musician or you are one...this song shows why it never quite turns out like you thought

I feel like he's poking fun at himself because songwriteres love feeling low. It keeps us inspired. But we also hate feeling that way too. Its hard to explain. I like the part "I wont kiss her, but I'll stare her up all night" Thats really good.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
