They tied off your arms
With all their pretty charms
And the same bad lines
Always get you
Always get you

And you hate the way they wash you down
Summer hums heavy now
So you bolded all your best words
So that they'd have something to
Wrap their mouths around

Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause I envy the way that you move
Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause I want something just a little bit louder

All spun awake
I'm twisted in the heat
God, you're always burning up so bright
When there's someone there by your side

Well just take me home
'Cause I'm a mess enough clean
And I'll lie until i believe

Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause I envy the way that you move
Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause I want something just a little bit louder

Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause you're brilliant when you try
Show me how pretty the whole world is
tonight

(Show me how pretty the world is)

(Show me how pretty the world is)

I never thought that i could be who i am
I never thought that i could see where i was
I never thought that all this was just wasn't me
I always thought what all this was could never be

I never thought that i could be who i am
I never thought that i could see where i was
I never thought that all this was just wasn't me
I always thought I'd wait here for you

Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause i envy the way that you move
Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause i want something just a little bit louder

Show me how pretty the world is
'Cause you're brilliant when you try
Show me how pretty the whole world is

Show me how pretty the whole world is

Show me how pretty the whole world is tonight... whoa tonight

I pretty much agree with the other people. He wants to see the world and everything through someone else eyes, because to them everything looks pretty and good, for example bad lines or jokes. He's feeling a bit depressed or and wants to be helped to see how beautiful things can be.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
