Renaissance Fair Lyrics
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
I smell cinnamon and spices
I hear music everywhere
All around kaleidoscope of color
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
Maids pass gracefully in laughter
Wine coloured flowers in their hair
Last call from lands I´ve never been to
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
Some flash on a soda of prism
Bright jewels on the ladies flashing
Eyes catch on a shiny prism
Hear ye the crying of the vendors
Fruit for sale wax candles for to burn
Fires flare soon it will be night fall
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
I smell cinnamon and spices
I hear music everywhere
All around kaleidoscope of color
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
Wine coloured flowers in their hair
Last call from lands I´ve never been to
I think that maybe I´m dreaming
Bright jewels on the ladies flashing
Eyes catch on a shiny prism
Fruit for sale wax candles for to burn
Fires flare soon it will be night fall
I think that maybe I´m dreaming

The ultimate hippie tune.I was at Monterey Pop Festival taking a piss in one of the portable toilets when the Byrds opened their Sat Night set with Renaissance Fair. Walking back to my seat I was in a state of ecstacy."I think that maybe I'm dreaming".Damn right!
Inspired by a medieval festival held by an L.A. radio station.
the song was inspired by the Renaissance Pleasure Faire of Southern California, which has been a yearly medieval event since 1962 - the tune describes Crosby's visit and his visions of wonder - McGuinn is credited with co-writing the song, but it's really all Crosby - David had to put McGuinn's name on it or it wouldn't have made it onto the album, that's how tense things were in the Byrds at the time - one of my favorite Byrd/Crosby songs
