Shaking Paper Lyrics

Hold the gun
Way deep down
Look out beyond the sun
Look out beyond the sun

Good things coming
Cause the good thing's coming

Shotguns with no guns
Shot army with no army at all

I don't know what is worse
And I can't tell what is the best
People emphasize the way of the world
Demons despise the sound of shaking paper
Guess what I found out
You
Too

I can't believe no one has commented on this song--I love the drums!

I don't really know what the last verse means. But I like the beat.

Does shaking paper mean spending money? I'm not so sure but I can't think of anything else.

I think Demons describe the sound of shaking paper is a mockery of how even the most evil/powerful things have the tiniest fear/weakness. And she's comparing that irony in another's behavior.

perhaps she is referring to shaking paper being used to recreate the sound of thunder. this sound just kinda sounds like a t-storm to me anyways, with the snare drums almost being like rain. but i agree with alovelyfadeout, how no one is completely infallible and everyone, even your highly esteemed love interest.

I thought the thunder thing is definitely a possibility.

It's really hard to explain the meanings you hold for songs sometimes. The best way I can say what I think about this song is kind of an ominous prediction, like a deep inspection of someone else's character, with kind of a mysterious, folklore-ish tone.

It definitely is very haunting when she says the final part.

Guess what I found out? You do too...

I always figured that shaking paper referred to omamori, the japanese paper charms that people would hang for protection from demons or other evils. And I figured she was calling the person that verse is directed to a demon by saying they were also scared of the sound of shaking paper.
