Lunar Landscapes Lyrics
run with me
we’ll ride over the great cliffs
into the sea
we won’t saddle up again
we won’t run the track again
no more shots or medicine
run with me
across gray lunar landscapes
into the sea
I’ll stroke your mane
as we fall through the sky
oh, broken horse, get ready to…
run with me
we’ll be such a beautiful sight
to the people on the beach
with a great running leap
over rocks, over sand
oh we may never land
we’ll ride over the great cliffs
into the sea
we won’t run the track again
no more shots or medicine
across gray lunar landscapes
into the sea
as we fall through the sky
oh, broken horse, get ready to…
we’ll be such a beautiful sight
to the people on the beach
over rocks, over sand
oh we may never land

And by leads i mean rides
I've always thought this song was about letting go of someone that's terminally ill. Possibly making the decision to 'pull the plug' on them.
"No more shots or medicine".
It seems pretty simple. The narrator is adressing a horse that he loves. He sets it free and leads it off a cliff in a thelma and louise-esque scenario.
