I've always loved this song, and I just checked out the video. From that I think it's a throw back to the old peep shows where you would pay a quarter or whatever and get to see a girl strip. In Lady picture show it's about a girl in one of those shows who has lost herself and her identity because of what she's become. Sad thing is she does it because she "don't know nothing anymore" - she's gone too far and can't possibly find her way back to her true identity. Finally the boys are gone -she's older and wedding presents aren't so picture perfect anymore - she's divorced and alone again. She's old because of the time period of the song it is sort of 60s and sounds like something the Beatles might have made, this was the hay day of the girl in Lady Picture Show

This song seems to be about a woman who has lost her own identity as the result of a tumultuous relationship. It seems that she may have gotten caught up in an extramarital affair and the shame and secrecy of it all is killing her.

hmm, this is an interesting one. i think there are people in this world who play the exact or somewhat similar role as lady picture show, caught up in something and afraid of being found out, but get caught anyway and try to deal with the guilt of it all. am i right or far off?
