Baby Dracula

Y’ALL. This song is so clearly about a narcissistic partner. I’ve had a diagnosed npd father and boyfriend of two years and it is almost textbook accurate. I’ll cite some lines with explanations.

“Hush now my dear, I know you need attention, so slash an artery.” This references to how narcissists seek attention and go to lengths to achieve it. My father used to get in my face and describe ways he should kill himself while telling me I don’t love him enough. It’s a very real tactic that puts you right where they want you mentally.

“You are so transparent, can’t see your own reflection,” This line goes along with the ‘Dracula/Vampire’ theme whilst also referencing to how the speaker can see through the narcissists emotions and perceive their true intentions. The narcissist can’t see his own reflection, being in reference to how a narcissist doesn’t see or admit to their faults.

“He fell to pieces, he turned cold,” This shell that the narcissist has created around him to mask his toxicity falls apart as he splits and begins his abuse toward the speaker. The coldness and abuse manipulate the speaker into a bad state of mind.

“He never did what he was told, this baby he sucked me dry, he cried to make me turn to stone,” Following the theme, the baby sucks her blood similar to how the narcissist drains their victim. The narcissist acts out and continues the abuse and cold behavior, (not doing what he’s told,) this drains the speaker in order to catch them off guard. when they begin mirroring the narcissists abusive tendencies, the narcissist will ‘cry’ and confuse the victim, further manipulating them as they ‘turn to stone’ (freeze in shock.)

“He took his bottle, he went home.” This is the clearest line in the song portraying what the narcissist wants. He took what he needed, (his bottle,) and left, (went home.) The narcissist uses their victim, taking what they want and only wanting them when there’s a means to meet.

“Your romantic notion, won’t hide your pale complexion, or vulnerability.” Narcissists love bomb their victims to entrap them in a false narrative. This romantic notion, love bombing, won’t hide the narcissist’s pale complexion (true intentions.) Also following the Dracula theme with his pale skin. The speaker can also see through him, this was mentioned earlier when she calls the narcissist “transparent.” This means the speaker also sees his vulnerability.

“And it hurts to know you, won’t be the one exception, here’s a philosophy.” This has two interpretations in my opinion. One is the speaker can’t accept that they don’t have a special place in the narcissists heart like they thought they did after the love bombing but they know they have to accept it because they have seen the true nature of this narcissist. The second one is the speaker wants to fix the narcissist, and they have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that he’s too far gone and he’s not going to be different or change. The speaker then tells themself that’s just what is true and ethical, the philosophy, the answer.

“You’ve lost your relevance Mr black, I gave you everything, give it back,” The narcissist has lost their hold on the speaker and the speaker is confronting him. They’ve been drained and given everything to the narcissist, and now they can see through the lies and they want everything they wasted back.

“You won’t win and I’ll tell you why, you’ve betrayed a person who bleeds but won’t die.” The speaker is explaining how the narcissist won’t get away with this, they won’t win, because the speaker will heal and not be broken down by the abuse any longer. They’ve been hurt in the past, but they will stand taller now.

“Red is your reason and alibi, sucked off everyone say goodnight.” Red is the reason, blood, the narcissist needs to draw blood seeing as he’s a vampire. There really is no reason to draw blood though, to abuse them to such lengths. Their fake alibi turns out to just be their reason, you could say he was caught red-handed just having a lust for blood, a sadistic urge to hurt the speaker.

“When your narrow coffin’s rotting from inside, then you know to let go, I think it’s time you tried.” The speaker points out the narcissists narrow minded beliefs and actions; they tell him when his own belief system ends up inevitably crashing in on itself he should let go of it and finally change and mature. The narcissist will never really ‘try’ to change though. They will never try at all, just like they never did in the past.

If she wanted to still be playing i JAck off Jill, she would, and she would hire new band members. Obviously, if she's in a new band, it's a new sound.

The people who criticize Scarling. the most are the same people who don't appreciate Jessicka's meaningful lyrics and melodic voice - they want something stereotypically dark or rebellious that they can cling toor add to their lists of proudly displayed bands they like. They want to stay in their stereotypical box, because it;s saf,e and if you admit you like something that sounds too "poppy", you're not as cool, or "goth" anymore.

I think this song is a great example of how her writing has evolved, but it hasn't changed much. The juxtaposition of certain symbols has the same way of bringing about the feelings she desires to show.

I always saw it as a song from the perspective of a girl with a guy friend who likes her romantically, but she doesn't feel the same, and so he becomes upset. At first she accommodates him, and tries to make him feel better, but he just keeps acting like an infant and it's draining her. Finally she just tells him that the best thing to do would be to shut up and let it go, causing him to end the friendship altogether. The last part is like her explaining that he's always going to be alone as long as he has that attitude.

this song is about someone who has a friend who has been depressed for a long time, and they have finally given up on them.\n\n"This baby sucked me dry" "You\'ve lost your relevance Mr. Black\nI gave you everything, give it back" / theyre drained from always being there for their friend whenever they needed them and after giving them their everything theyre still not better, but they simply dont care anymore.\n\n\n"You won\'t win and I\'ll tell you why, You\'ve betrayed a person who bleeds but won\'t die" / you can wear me down all you want but you wont break me\n\n"Red is your reason and alibi" / their self harm serves as "proof" that theyre depressed.\n\n"When your narrow coffin\'s rotting from the inside, Then you know to let go, think it\'s time you tried" / its them telling their friend that they gave up on them and are hopeless for their recovery. theyre asically telling them "just end it already"

This song just seems to be about a guy who betrays others.He'll do anything to betray,that he seems like a monster,hence the Baby Dracula,he just keeps betraying more and more until maybe he'll be dead for it

The chorus is blatently wrong - It's "He failed to make me turn to stone, He took his blood and he went home" I LOVE this song, and I love scarling, I wish they would get more songs out, or at least come to England. I think the relevence to vampires is saying that the guy was trying to drain her (metally, not literally) but obviously fails from the last verse "You won't win and I'll tell you why You've betrayed a person who bleeds but won't die"
