Found That Soul Lyrics
Show me a wonder
You can't be sure of
I exist in a place
A self-made vacuum
But still stranded here
With all the scum
So clean, So lost
So beautiful
But I found that soul
Yeah I found that home
But I found that soul
Not a subject
Not a subject am I
Sick and pale but
Strangely alive
Broken blood vessels
Line my cheeks
Reflections look bad
And somehow unreal
But I found that soul
Yeah I found that home
But I found that soul
Show me a wonder
Show me a wonder...
You can't be sure of
I exist in a place
A self-made vacuum
But still stranded here
With all the scum
So clean, So lost
So beautiful
Yeah I found that home
But I found that soul
Not a subject am I
Sick and pale but
Strangely alive
Broken blood vessels
Line my cheeks
Reflections look bad
And somehow unreal
Yeah I found that home
But I found that soul
Show me a wonder...

My take on this great song, is that it's simply about getting older and wising-up to the world.
"Show me wonder, you can be sure of" - Go on, try and impress me. Show me something I've never seen before.
A few lines remind me of George Carlin's "When you're born you're given a ticket to the freakshow" and how he describes how he doesn't get down looking at the state of the world, by becoming a spectator.
"Sick and pale but Strangely alive Broken blood vessels Line my cheeks Reflections look bad And somehow unreal" - I'm not old enough to have the red cheeks of an old man, but it comes to us all. Reflections often do look bad with age and the image of ourselves as we age is more often than not grounded in our primes.
"Found that soul" - I think that's suggestive of an inner contentedness age brings. Despite being knee-deep with all the scum of the world, in a self-made vacuum your soul can be peaceful.
And lastly "Show me wonder" - Seems like a final plea, to feel rejuvenated by wonder a younger person or kid might feel.
can't believe no one commented on this. its a freaking awsome manics song and clearly disgracefully under-recognised. anyway this reminds me of Platoon when charlie sheen suggests that you have to get as low as you can go in order to find the truth and rebuild without having to fake it.
I think "Not a subject Not a subject am I" refers to our Dear Queen and this song is a follow up to "Repeat" from the GT album.
"Sick and pale but Strangely alive Broken blood vessels Line my cheeks Reflections look bad And somehow unreal"
Broke blood vessels sounds like bulimia. After purging a lot, you can pop blood vesssels in different places. It sounds really obvious but that's just my two cents, for whatever it's worth.. :P
