There Went The World Lyrics

Safe sex, the diaphram, lacking of your self-control.
Diary, the top drawer, your mother wished she'd never seen.
I just wanted to be loved she said.
Its something that I never had.

Call him at three am, wishing to be reassured.
He'd love to, of course he would, Anything to get you in his bed.

Goodnight she said, Im gonna start a revolution
And you can be the star(t) of it, its in my head.

Footprints, and fallen leaves;
these are the kind of things lovers think of.
Backseats and motels; these are the places that theyve been.
You want none of these things, these are the things that make us weak.

There went the world
Just one girl

Lyrically, this is probably the most impressive work (in my opinion) that number one fan has put out. It seems to portray a current relationship being tarnished by the hopelessnes a girl due to a past relationship that completely fractured her outlook on what love means and should be. Thus, the nature of these fears and doubts can sometimes get the best of us and what we make of our present love interest. The singer is in conflict with the realization that she is too hurt to continue on with him.

I'd have to agree with Rebirth210, this song is a real work of art, many people can actually see that in this girl's past relationship the guy hurt her far too much for her to ever actually love again.

the girl wants to feel loved, so she gives up her virginity for love, but the guy is just an asshole that wants to take advantage of her (like most guys) and says anything to get her in bed...

This song is really beautiful. It means something a little different to me. My interpretation, I guess, is influenced by personal experience however, every outlook is subjective. This is about the guys ex-girlfriend after they have broken up. He is singing about her and how she's trying to faux-move on (like so many of us do, just to feel that "security" again) even though the reason they broke up should not have ended their relationship. It seems to have been over a lack of understanding of eachother, and now he is resentful of how the new guy is taking advantage of the situation he is presented with, his fragile ex-girlfriend. He loves her still, and sings about everything that is special about her and her outlook on life, and it's just really sad to hear it all, because there went his world, in just one girl.

To me this is about a girl who is young, but she sleeps with a guy because she thinks she loves him, but sex is all he wanted her for.

'Footprints, and fallen leaves' - to me this is about how romantic she'd always imagined love and sex to be, and instead it was somewhat sleazy - 'backseats and motels'...

'there went the world, just one girl' - I interprate that as the guys perspective, and that he has only wanted her for sex and she was just another girl on his list, and he didnt see her beauty, and how amazing she was.

I absolutely love this song, and Number One Fan. It's definately about how people (namely, boys) take advantage of girls sexually. For some reason, this song breaks my heart. I love it.

there's more to this song. more lyrics, and no one ever puts them.

"and i wouldn't think twice? the blank something... and there went the world" im not too sure what he says.

listened to these guys again after a super long time, (they were also amazing live) and it sounds like 'and I wouldn't think twice, the offer sounded nice, but there went the world'. Kind of goes with the 'guy's perspective in the song. (it's just one girl)
