@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.

i dont know why, but when i hear this song, and read the lyrics, it makes me think of a relationship, comming to an end, and the singer knows it...but he doenst know how to stop it, cause it is inevitable...and it eats him upinside that he knows the future "trapped beneath my pillow, wont let me sleep" yeah my thoughts, i love this song though not the best but good.

Sandwhich Masta...the title is clearly says it is about an atheist. Pretty sure it's about how scared the atheist is about dying because if he had a religion he would be looking forward to heaven and being saved and living forever. But because of his beliefs, he really doesn't know what is out there for him when he finally dies. The "eerie whispers trapped beneath my pillow" are these thoughts of his subconscious bringing doubts to him that, "did I really make the right choice? Now is the last chance I have if I think I'm wrong." The second verse more seems to me like his spirit addressing his conscious. The chorus aims to show how the thoughts are consuming his existence in his final moments as "the end is all I can see"<br /> <br /> Relationship?! Pfff. You must have been some dreamy eyed teenager when you wrote that one.

I know it seems like to many songs are about love, but theres so much variation withing those songs. Some are about falling in love, some about falling out, some about abuse, some about failure, some about dependence.

@Child uv KoRn All of the members of Muse(well, Matt and Dom at least) are atheists... I think you're lost on the meaning of this song. It seems the song is more about what your talking about, how people view dying atheists, rather than the band useing this as an example of their beliefs.
