Let You Down Lyrics

Trust me
There’s no need to fear
Everyone’s here
Waiting for you to finally be one of us

Come down
You may be full of fear
But you’ll be safe here
When you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

I will let you down
I’ll let you down, I’ll
When do you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

Trust me
I’ll be there when you need me
You’ll be safe here
When you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

I will let you down
I’ll let you down, I’ll
When do you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

I will let you down
I’ll let you down, I’ll
When do you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

Never want to come down
Never want to come down
Never want to come down

(Down, let you down)

I will let you down
I’ll let you down, I’ll
When do you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

I will let you down
I’ll let you down, I’ll
When do you finally trust me
Finally believe in me

I think its about people's expectations being too high. He knows that he will never match up to what he is expected to be. And the 'When you finally trust me I will let you down' bit, is about when he does finally get the recognition and respect of them, that he'll still let them down, because he still isn't good enough. The 'waiting for you' bit is basically talking about how they are pressuring him to be perfect, just like their expectations.

Just my meaning--

To me this song is one of my personal favs.... in my opinion I think of it like there's a person who is unsecure and unsure of themselves and they don't know who to trust and what to believe from anyone really because they are soo lost within themselves. They are completey unaware and gullible and basically just don't fit in anywhere with life... So one day this person meets someone who really they don't know but is tricked into thinking that they can be trusted and that if this person just trusts them that they can finally fit into a place where they will feel safe and secure:

"Trust me There’s no need to fear Everyone’s here Waiting for you to finally be one of us"

The person is being told to "Come down" meaning don't be soo uptight and basically let down your guard....

"Never want to come down" is thought of as They've been soo lost for so long, wanting to have someone to trust but because they're full of fear and not knowing how to without stepping a bit out of their comfort zone. So finally when the person is thinking "Okay I can trust you" this other person who obviously has planned to trick them, follows through unfortuately...

This song relates to me very much to me and my life... wanting to fit in yet not knowing whom to trust....

This is the closest I've seen so far to what I think it's about. It makes perfect sense, it doesn't even need to be strangers it could be a group of friends you have detached from and they want you to know you can open up to them and feel safe with them, then they turn around and stab you in the back, again.

Just my experience.

Thsi song confuses me a bit. It says "I will let you down I’ll let you down, I’ll When do you finally trust me Finally believe in me"

But its saying trust me ill be there when you need me in the verses. So. Confusing. Still a legend song tho

"Never want to come down"

and

"I will let you down I'll let you down"

Are the key lyrics here, I think it's about drugs. When you finally trust them, you get withdrawal symptoms. Or believe in your dealer he will start selling you the shit stuff.

I could be wrong though - could be about someone who is worried about letting someone down but the music supports my theory about wanting to let someone down and see their disappointment.

Personally, I think the song is about staging an intervention. Not only does it fit in with Adam’s reason for singing this heavily about topics such as drug abuse, but also because I’ve personally dealt with people and have been to an intervention. (They don’t go well for the addict.)\n\nNotice how he reassures the person to trust them and that everyone’s here for them, waiting for the addict to be like the rest of us, (clean and healthy.)\n\nThe chorus is from the addicts perspective. They will let you down. When you finally trust them and believe that they’ll get better, they’ll just go back to using. They will let you down.\n\nThe solo near towards the end is the cries of help from the addict. They never wanted to come down to an intervention, because they know they’ll just end up letting people down again.

I was at their concert last summer and he said "this song's for anyone out there that's ever been fucked over by a bitch!" I think the song is from the "bitch's" perspective. Basically sayin how she kinda ecourages a guy to trust her and then she lets him down once she's gained his trust. Awesome guitar halfway through!

My interpretation of this song might be a bit off, but it's what it means to me;

Somehow, I'm thinking of a drug addiction when I listen to this. About a kid with a lot going on, and decides [and is tempted] to turn to drugs for closure.
