Life For Rent

Another one of Dido's beautiful and thoughful songs. LIfe For Rent is one of the most profound statements that she has ever written. If you think about it, life is what you get out of it, life is what you put in to it. If you rent life then you will never own life. IF it is rented then it becomes a life for someone else to rent. If you are so afraid to do something to the point where you won't even try then that is not living at all, that is renting life, not living life.

Sometimes I also feel that my life is rented, not owned. I'm here on Earth on a leased period of time, and when the lease ends, I return to the soil whence I came. But I need to treat life as if it's all there is, because if I don't, then nothing I have is truly mine. This is what this song means to me.

this song is so true. inspires me to take some risks, and live.

i think this song is a call to arms to take control of one's life. she is saying that one needs to learn to buy your life, instead of renting it. she wants to be able to commit to the person she finally falls in love with without being nervous or backing out because then she would lose them- "i am so afraid to fail so i won't even try, well how can i say i'm alive".

In Dido's words before performing this song live this was written during a time where Dido was homeless (now to come to think of it, I always thought the title 'life for rent' was tongue in cheek lol) and it certainly explains her life and the context rather than just being a funny title "It was written during a period where I was homeless, and I went a little mad, and I found this little house by the sea and wrote a lot of songs". Don't take "live by the sea" as a metaphor in this one folks, this time she's actually in it (explains 'Sand in my Shoes' I think)

It is the bst song and also i think this coz i won starz in their eyes kids as dido coz ppl thought i understood the lyrics and gave an emotional preformance.

this song is playing right now and its really got me thinking. ive been listening to it for the last couple of days. Makes me put everything into perspective and makes me wanna go out and take over my life. this is a great song with honest lyrics.
