The Dream Is Over Lyrics

Betrayed - by my soul
The blame - placed on my shoulders
Weight - I will carry all the way to my grave
I cannot be saved abandoned is my faith
Awaken now the dream is over

Daylight breaks on a broken home (disconnect)
Stakes are high and the temple's gone (resurrect)
Rebuild this structure stone by stone (reinstate)
Overcome this overload (restrain)

Pain
Remains
This pain
Remains

Betrayed - by my soul
The blame - placed on my shoulders
Weight - I will carry all the way until I'm

Broken down and I'm on the run (defense)
From myself and the damage done (prevent)
Future falls and past mistakes (avoid)
Conflict calls and complicates (destroyed)

Pain
Remains
This pain
Remains

Rise up from the ashes rethink my beliefs
The world rusts on it's axis
As my heart pleads for relief
Need relief

Betrayed - by my soul
The blame - placed on my shoulders
Weight - I will carry all the way until the

Daylight breaks on a broken home (disconnect)

This is about how when something traumatic happens to someone it changes the way the world looks to them. Usually people who experience such things go through rehabilitation or therapy or something, but this song suggests that rebuilding your emotional defenses only seals the pain up inside of you. The only way then to remove it is to become vulnerable and to open up again.

This song features Jens Kidman of Meshuggah screaming alongside JMann. Jeffery is not in this song.

This song is definatly good. I think it sounds a bit too Slipknotish. I think there new cd is shit xcept for this song.....Mushroomhead is the definition of sell-outs, as soon as they got signed with a big record label there music went to a mix between Disturbed and Slipknot. But Mushroomhead's old stuff is definatly the shit! They are amazing in concert!

Not to mention, I believe we are supposed to discuss the meaning of the song, and not wether the band has 'sold-out' or not. I've seen Shroom 5 times live 3 of which were before the XIII cd was released. I also own each cd released by the side projects. This CD's isn't sell out, they are letting other influences bleed through. If you feel this way about Shroom, I can't wait for you to hear the new Slipknot.

i hate how everyone says mushroomhead sold out when they got signed to universal. no one takes the time to notice that BEFORE they got signed, when they wrote everything from MRH, Superbuick, M3, and Remix, they had a different line up. When they released XX, which was just a compilation of their older material, Bronson wasn't the guitarist in those songs. It was Gravy and Dinner, and some songs were Gravy and Mudermickel. A new guitarist, that being Broson, brings a whole new style to the table for them to feed off of. They didn't "sell out'... they just enhanced their musical style.. and became, well, more MUSICAL.. if anything, they GREW as musicians..

as for this song, it's one of my fav songs on the cd, only because i love the way jens' and j's voices mend together during the verses of the song.

and i agree with divine, if u think this is a big change, wait until you hear slipknots new cd when it comes out on the 25th...

i totally disagree with b182degenerate about mushroomhead being sell-outs. They are everything but sell-outs. XIII is a great example of how mushroomhead can write beautiful yet brutal songs. Just listening to the CD from beginning to end it is so obvious that they are all full of so much talent. The reason XIII sounds different from all their other stuff is because they include more of their musical influences than in the past. They aren't trying to sound like "metal" or "rock". they just write music the way it comes to them. Listening to Jeffery Nothing's former band "Hatrix" and youll find that it sounds kinda similar to XIII

Mushroomhead, coming from my hometown cleveland, is a great band with a unique style.. although that post the guy made about them being sellouts was a while back... i bring it up again.. go listen to your emo music you crybaby.
