Two people touching lips
Hands on each others hips
Nothing else in the world but one another
The forty second floor
On a distant shore
I wonder how we strayed so far from this

Remember when we were
Just flesh and bone you sir
May have forgotten how good your world can be
So put down your hollow tips
And kiss you lovers lips
And know that fate is what we make of it
Please end this please end this before it ends us, ends us, ends

I want to stay inside
I want to stay inside for good
I want to stay inside for good for good for good for good

I read the news today
And everything they say
Just makes me want to stay inside and wait
But the better part of me knows
That waiting in the throws
Is on a par with reading while my eyes are closed

"what can I do"? you say
"its just another day
In the life of apes with ego trips!"
Put down your hollow tips
And kiss your lovers lips
And know that fate is what we make of it

Please end this please end this before it ends us, ends us, ends us
I want to stay inside
I want to stay inside for good
I want to stay inside for good for good
Oh
I'm gonna stay inside
I'm gonna stay inside for good
I'm gonna stay inside for good for good
I want to stay inside
I want to stay inside for good
I want to stay inside
Don't want to stay inside for good
Don't want to stay inside for good for good for good

It's not about fucking, guys. Dirty minds...always. What it's about is a person who is terrified due to the supposed condition of the world and is finding himself more and more prone to just wall himself up in the house. If you really think about it, it relates to the US culture in general as we become more and more home based. More and more people seem to become agoraphobics as terror attacks and murder coverage appears on the TV. Everyday you hear how horrible it is out there and after a while it becomes to the point where some people are afraid to leave the house. He's telling you that this is bullshit in a way. Sure people are trying to get you scared, but do you really wanna stay inside for good? Eat TV dinners and stare at the walls?

Hm...everyone either says its about sex...or it's completely about agoraphobia. I have another take. Possibly about a girl. Think about it...just read the first lines...then read please end this, before it ends us. Ahem...maybe a bad break up forced him into agoraphobia.

I love this song. For me, it is about thinking that life out side your house kinda crappy and filled with violence and stupid people that suck. However, at the same time you know that there is so much out there and. "life is what you make of it"

most of you have it figured out... some still are kinda reaching. just to clear up the confusion, here is a quote from an interview with brandon boyd directly, in which he talks about the meaning behind this song:

"That song is sort of covering the idea that there is a very strong tendency for certain media outlets to try and keep us afraid as to keep us consuming and docile and pliable, so to speak. I think it captures that feeling that we don't want to stay indoors, and that even though we're sort of sometimes being forced to, or forced to feel like we have to, you don't necissarilly have to."

there ya go. he's referencing the warfare going on around the world and how the media manipulates information to the advantage of their own biases. he's saying we can't just believe everything we hear in the media for that reason (it's "like reading with my eyes closed"). the beginning of the song has sort of a nostalgic feel, like he's remembering a time before the warfare, and challenging us to stop the violence and war and just love one another.

Basically I think it's about how there's a lot of problems in the world, but you shouldn't let fear of all these problems control your life. Don't stay inside for good, go out and enjoy life. Also some of these lyrics are wrong but I don't feel like finding the right ones to post now.

"You say, 'We have forgotten how cordial war could be'" should be "You, sir, may have forgotten how good your world could be" and instead of "hollow sips" it's "hollow tips"

    but anyway... onto the meaning...

i think incubus is noting all the beauty in the world and is upset that all the focus on television and everything else that's going on in the world, today, is so negative. that instead of fighting and going to war we need to sit back and enjoy the happy comforts of life (put down your hollow tips [i'm guessing guns?]/and kiss your lover's lips). with all the violence out there, the narrator would just rather stay inside, because he doesn't want to focus on all these negative things when he knows there's better out there. he wants whoever's in charge to end the violence before it gets out of hand. if the person in charge would only 'kiss [his] lover's lips' and be more affectionate and loving, he'd know that he doesn't have to be at war with anyone/thing.

Love in a Vacuum
'Til Tuesday
Well, in my opinion this song is about being a young & maybe a little naive &/or introverted girl and finding yourself loving a man who is at first very charming, carefree & outgoing, and seems at first to be without limits, as in "There was a time you opened up every doorway you didn't mind if everything wasn't your way" then that man starts to gradually become more introverted & shows their more possessive/obsessive side to you as the relationship progresses, even while they keep up the appearance of being carefree & outgoing to everyone else, "Don't pull away that goes against what you told me I look in your eyes I realize what you've sold me is love in a vacuum" so you confront them about the way they're acting and of course they deny it, "I think you've changed but you insist that that's not true" quite possibly they are an addict of some sort, my guess would be cocaine, &/or showing very obsessive behavior towards you (early on in the video for this song we see the man hanging a picture up, it is a very large portrait of Aimee & it is prominently displayed in his/their apartment for the duration of the song), thus their "love in a vacuum", "You look so strange, so distant that you're hardly you Now I can see how you have been acting different You say it's me but I know that it isn't it's love in a vacuum" but still you are in love with them and don't want to leave them and you know that they are truly in love with you and they don't want you to leave them either, maybe they are convinced you can save them from themself, maybe they are so broken that the possibility of an overdose &/or suicide attempt is very real and you want to get through to them that their behavior not only dangerous but it is also just pissing you off and if they don't wise up they run the risk of loosing you, as in the lines "You will be lonely if you leave me alone", so you want to save them but can't get through to them due to the addiction &/or emotional problems they have, "Love in a vacuum and that's not enough love in a vacuum You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way You will be lonely if you leave me alone You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough" you want them to understand that the love they are giving you is not enough when it is filtered through the vacuum of their drug addiction &/or emotional impairment, "You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough and just wait you will be lonely Love in a vacuum Love in a vacuum and that's not enough Love in a vacuum". 'Love In A Vacuum' for me is a hauntingly truthful acute argument on the loneliness of obsession and almost inevitable loss of love that follows people who are broken in some way or another; the obsessives, the coke heads, the drunks, addicts or the just-plain-old emotionally broken; a razor sharp, lyrically driven, deceptively poppy, yet ultimately-depressing-in-the-best-way song. Quintessential Aimee Mann.

Corpse I Fell In Love With
Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
