All in the Suit That You Wear Lyrics
In the grip, trying to strangle us all down here
In the meantime, are you ever gonna set us free
Hey you, will we ever get out of here?
do you even care
Wasn't talking about sweet submission
It wasn't even there
When you're looking for something
It's in the suit that you wear
when you're hiding from someone
All in the suit that you wear
When you wear it
On the edge, you cut your feet when you stand in there
In the meantime, there's always someone to set you free
Hey you, will you ever get out of there
do you even care?
Wasn't talking about sweet submission
It wasn't even there
When you're looking for something
It's in the suit that you wear
when you're hiding from someone
All in the suit that you wear
When you wear it
In the suit that you wear
In the suit that you wear
In the suit that you wear
When you're looking for something
It's in the suit that you wear
when you're hiding from someone
All in the suit that you wear
When you wear it
When you wear it
When you wear it
i think this song is aobut someone in a position of power, that lies to everyone, and tells everone something to get thigns to work out, and almost gets find out. Steepin on little people. like a record producter or something

I like what chickenpotpie says. But after seeing the movie "momento" (the best movie ever), it reminds me of Leonard Shelby. Not that that's what the song is about I just thought I'd throw that out there.
It all depends on what you are and how you act to get what you want it's all in the suit that you wear.
we have a winner here^^

I read somewhere that this song was originally written for the first Spiderman movie.

i think this is about hiding from yourself or your problems(when you're hiding from someone). Ywhatever is bringning u down,. drugs, alcohol, relationships, depression) is also huritng those around you(Hey you, someone said you were lost out there,In the grip, trying to strangle us all down here). You keep questioning yourself about your personal worth, asking yourself if you really want to change, or do you even care if you change(Are you ever gonna surrender,do you even care) and i could go on qouting hte song but its pretty fuckin obvious, but then again each memebr of the band supposedly conttribnuted lyrics to this song, but htta doent mean they weren't talking about the same problem
^^ this guy does the best STP interpretations

I think it's about being a soldier in the war...the suit that you wear is the uniform.
"...Are you ever gonna set us free?" meaning when are we going home?
"Are you ever gonna surrender, do you even care?" meaning both the enemy and the government that put them into battle.
"All in the suit that you wear...when you wear it" meaning that maybe the war is meaningless, they're fighting just for the sake of fighting.
That's just what I think...and no, I'm not anti-war, but I think the song is. Still one of STP's best songs.
this is one of those songs that have many meanings and all u guys are rite!
I think that this song has a lot of meaning, that meaning being that Scott Weiland was under the influence of a lot heroin when he wrote it. Seriously, have you heard the chorus?
I think this song is about hiding behind a facade that you build around yourself.
