I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

love this song. I think the husband died and he was a farmer or something used to plant seeds. After he died, his wife kept planting them in his memory and they kept growing with her love for him. The seeds that frow may also symbolize their children and memories for eachother (well of course). I think the husband went to hell because of the part where his wife and him are talking to eachother and she says "I'm always wondering where you are ..." and he says "Distant though I am orange, gold, and green firing, flaming, colors surround me" ...firing, flaming kind of made me think of hell. Maybe he commited suicide or some type of sin which made him go there? I dunno just a thought. Anyway, I love this song and I love Eisley!!!
