Memories Lyrics

He was throwing grain into the ground below, ground below
With dreary circles of his arm, going slow, very slow
His cap pulled down roun' his ears to
hide the smile and watery tears

My loving wife is so wonderful
how small seeds gracefully to grow
into beautiful things that spring from these rows
With their musical names and musical sound

Dreary birds parade across the dreary sky, but down below
the woman absent mindedly begins to sow, how she sows the
seeds her husband loved so much, but he's no longer
here with us

But her life is so beautiful
as memories continue to grow
into beautiful things that spring from these rows
With their musical names and musical sound
Beautiful things that spring from these rows
with their musical names and musical sounds, and musical sounds

Distant though I am
orange, gold, and green
firing, flaming, colors surround me
I'm always wondering where you are.
I'm always wondering where you are.
Darling shouldn't I be the one
Wondering after all I am the one who is gone
I'm always wondering where you are.
I'm always wondering where you are.
Darling shouldn't I be the one
Wondering after all I am the one who is gone
I'm always wondering.
I was just wondering.
I was just wondering.
I'm the one...who is gone
Who is gone

But, there's beautiful things that spring from these rows
With their musical names, and musical sounds
Musical sounds

This song is so beautiful, the bridge is amazing. "i'm always wondering where you are...". Sherri and Stacy make my heart stop. I think this song is about a marriage that has grown in to something beautiful over time. The widowed wife is looking back and realizing that. I could be wrong. Eisley is going to be huge when their full length comes out in Early 2005. I guarantee it.

Total agreement here.

I think they may be telling the story from nature's point of view, as well.

Oy, the person who submitted the lyrics spelled sew wrong. Anyway, this song is absolutely beautiful, I think it's perfect as the first song on Room Noises. I can't believe they're from Tyler, Texas. Since I live in Texas, it's just hard to imagine such an amazing band that comes from such a crappy town.

Actually, scatterbra1n, they did spell "sow" correctly. It means to scatter seeds on the ground for growing. Anyways, this song is beautiful. Eisley is great.

This is such a pretty song. I love the bridge so much. I agree with imnotSxEx though.

yeah, scatterbra1n, the form of "sow" used here is correct.

anyway, I couldn't believe they were from Tyler either, because I'm from Palestine. If you think Tyler is crappy, try Palestine. We had to go to Tyler to find anything fun to do.
Anyway, when I met them a few months ago at a show it was great and obvious where they were from because they're so friendly and just... really nice. Genuinely good people. Bah, I'm still star-struck. Completely.

Aye. I love this song. I can't help but sing when I hear it. My sister and I always sing the conversation (thats what I call the "Distant, though, I am, orange, gold, and green...." and so-forth part of the song), she does Sherri's vocals and I do Stacy's, because I guess my voice is lower than her's. Of course we don't do it as beautifully as them...

I can see where imnotSxEx gets the idea of the widowed wife. I can see that now. Not a bad idea.

This was the first song I heard by Eisley, simply because a friend of mine had it playing in the background during our phone conversation. I'm so glad she played it! She let me borrow the CD, and I went out and bought one the next day for myself. It's just such an awesome band!

With that said, we were talking about what it may mean. She said she thought the husband and wife got a divorce and the "seeds she sows" were the children. "he's no longer here with us" being that he no longer lives with them. So, she thought maybe they were singing from personal experience. From what I've read though in the last 2 days that I've known about them, it seems that their parents are together with no troubles.

I for one love that there could be so many different meanings. Their songs are just so mystical and magical! I wish I heard of them sooner!
