You don't need no friends
Get back your faith again
You have the power to believe
Another dissident
Take back your evidence
It has no power to decieve
I believe it when I see it for myself
Chorus
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter and I believe
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunrise and I percieve
I Sit with them all night
Everything they say was right
But in the morning they were wrong
I'll be right by your side
Come hell or water high
Down any road you choose to roam
I believe it when I see it for myself
Chorus
Darling I believe oh Lord
Sometimes it's hard to breathe Lord
At the bottom of the sea
I'll believe it when I see it for myself
Chorus
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset
I can see the sunset
I can see the sunset
I don't need no one
I don't need no one oh
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
To tell me about heaven
I believe
I believe it yeah
Get back your faith again
You have the power to believe
Another dissident

It has no power to decieve
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter and I believe

if you listen to live at all it's pretty clear that they aren't praising "god" I think this song is more about appreciating LIFE and saying appreciate this and make this life heaven instead of wasting it all away
@incu You clearly need to listen to any of his solo works... Which are quite obviously mostly about God.

I especially like the "I look at my daughter and I believe"
This song is self-explanatory: I don't need no-one to tell me about heaven. It's anti the packaged God the saviour And favours Nature.
For those that want to see what the band believes, or what this or some of their other songs are about, feel free to hear it from Ed Kawalczk himself... instead of having strangers on the internet give you their interpretations.

I love this song. It rocks, it has so much emotion in it-esspecially the first half of the first verse. I've only got one problem with it and that's that it was thrashed to death on the radio. Good song though. :)
I loooove this song, and I love Ed, and I love Live! And, yes, his daughter is very lucky!! Does anybody know her name? MaggieMichelle
Darling I believe Sometimes it's hard to breathe At the bottom of the sea
possibly a comparation of religious beliefs, the fact that this is true is given. Also, the word "sometimes" suggests that this belief pales in comparison to the belief in god
I agree with Incu, considering the fact that Ed isn't a Christian.
Ed isnt a Christian did you know he has a Christian Rock Cd out? He is a Christian and he was for a long time. I think very early in his career he struggled with his beliefs and it showed in his music but as time went on slowly his lyrics changed as he realized the truth-and thats God and Jesus Christ :)

@beau99 I don't know if he is Christian but he doesn't have to be to believe/sing about God

what is ed?
To me, this song is about looking at the world around you, taking it in, and deciding for yourself what you believe.
"take back your evidence, it has no power to decieve" "I believe it, when I see it for myself"
These lines, coupled with the chorus seem to indicate that he's saying that you don't need people to tell you what is right and what you should believe. you can do it yourself.
great song
an also:
I really don't see the similarity to "yeah!" by Zwan. That song is incredibly repetative and really not that good in my opinion. It just doesn't sound like heaven to me.
