Song For The Fisherman Lyrics
There were thousands of days
as we traveled down North Road,
and I remember my uncle on his last day,
and how I would kill to shake his hand again.
And on goes the battle of years upon years.
My Father's eyes bring me solace,
and his look of focus I try to instill.
As my Mother reads as an example
of strength beyond strength,
and with her I became me.
There are two girls
with whom I've known longer than anyone,
and my debt to them is Lifetime.
The gathering of boys I rely on,
know exactly who they are
and I will build their protection with bloody hands.
Some were dealt knuckles and some delivered kisses,
but initially my heart was in the right place.
There are times when being engulfed by mountains
are the only signs of safety I know.
And I realize I think this way out of neglection
and at the exact thought I reclaim those days of scenery.
There are places like the bluffs in Kasilof
and the gravel pits in Sand Lake,
that most of us will never forget.
Those are the things I wanted to speak of,
those are the things that I dream about,
those are the things that I will definitely die with,
and this is the song for the fisherman.
as we traveled down North Road,

this is such a brilliant song that really sets a different feel to an amazing album. it's sorta this album version of left hand charity and it's awesome! as far as i can see it's a tribute to brocks home state of Alaska, more importantly his family especially his parents, his father is a fisherman, and also his friends. possibly it shows that he feels homesick and that being on tour or living in oregon he doesn't feel at home and yearns to return to his great state.
i think a lot of the album speaks of homesickness, in parts at least. this song moves me, as tho it is not linked to my life experiences, it makes me think of them, and makes me realise how much some people and places can mean to me, specially as my group of friends are all going different ways this year due to uni
this is just a tribute to his friends and family. He thanks them for molding him to who he is now
this song is one my favourites on the album, its a beautiful song and it really paints a picture, reminds me of my friends and how you shouldnt take them for granted, its an amazing track.
This is the most amazing poem/song i've ever read! It's like a thank you card for everyone that is or was mportant in his life. I can really relate to this song and specially when it says: "I will build their protection with bloody hands." This is simply a masterpiece. GOOD JOB 36 CF!!!!!!
"and I remember my uncle on his last day, and how I would kill to shake his hand again."
