Take my home
Take everything I own
Take it, take control
You will feel better
You will feel whole
You're so good
You stopped me where I stood
And let me look at love and I feel better
Oh, I feel good

I just want to give it all to you
I want to share this with you
Make you mine and mine will be all yours
Whatever you want and more
What I'm anticipating
Everything else will be over-rated
Baby, it's for you, it's all for you
You speak kind

Oh, if you were mine
What would we be like?
We would be liked
We would be

I just want to give it all to you
I want to share this with you
Make you mine and mine will be all yours
Whatever you want and more
What I'm anticipating

Everything else will be over-rated
Everything else will be over-rated
Open up
Let me fill your cup
I can really pour it out
It will be like

I will be enough
I just want to give it all to you
I want to share this with you
Make you mine and mine will be all yours
Whatever you want and more
What I'm anticipating
Everything else will be over-rated

Baby, it's for you
Baby, it's for you
Baby, it's for you
Baby, it's for you, it's all for you

This song is saying that he will give her everything that she wants because he loves her so much. It is such a sweet song. I wish someone would say that to me.

Over the summer, I made a new friend. We had so many things in common, a passion for music being one. We both loved Gavin Degraw, and he told me this was one of his favorite songs on the album. That day I learned how to play Overrated on acoustic and then showed him how. From then on, we started to think of each other differently. I can really relate to the lyrics, "You stopped me where I stood," because it's like I stopped dead in my tracks the night I realized how much I cared about this guy. And I often wondered what he and I would "be like" if we ever got serious. Compared to being with him, everything else in life seemed overrated to me. And that's what Gavin is singing about--how the person you are falling for makes everything else around you seem like an exaggeration.

agree with all of you.. 'meaning' and 'over-rated' is about the same thing, that love is all in the world.. the meaning with life is love and then everythingelse is over-rated... all Gavins songs are so true to real life.. I share his feelings, "I just wanna give it all to you" and "It's all for you", awesome song, one of my Gavinfavorites..

Um, guys, this song is about sex.

Maybe also about the relationship between love and sex, and how the two compliment each other to create a much richer experiment, but sex nonetheless.

The guy is trying to convey to her the desires he has to take their relationship to the next level. "what I'm anticipating, everything else will be overrated" And I won't even get into the innuendo-filled lyric of "open up, let me fill your cup.."

Also, I love the tone of voice he takes in the line "you speak kind". So wry, you can literally hear the sarcasm dripping off it. Or maybe its smothered lust? Hehe.

Um...musicmax: clearly you're a nympho!! - This song is not about sex, it's about love and how it completely and utterly takes precedence over anything else going on in your life. Nothing else matters…and it’s uncontrollable! This song is sick and gavin’s voice is so sexy (apu)!

I always saw it as about sex, too.

i see this song as a great wedding song. i can also relate it to my rel'p. it can be about sex but i think its more about this loving relationship moving forward to a deeper commitment.

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
