love that song. doesn't anybody know the feeling he is singing of? everybody has that time in the youth, where you just feel alone and can't help being depressed. you feel like everything is unsignificant.. especially if you're lonely. and you want help. need help. to get out of this.
but altogether, you would prefer to disappear. not having anymore problems. not having to fight with it anymore. just like magic.

It's really just impressive how he's made this song with passion for The Smiths/Morrissey. The melody, guitar sound, fadeout and fadein at the end. A bit more challenging than a mere cover, no?

Oh wow. I just heard this song for the first time 5 minutes ago and I got such a deja vu for The Smiths/Morrissey (to the comment above me).
i have always believed this song was about feeling out of place in the world, not about looking for love for the night. does anyone else agree
Why does this song not have more comments? I do believe it is one of his very best. It doesn't remind me of the Smiths at all by the way...just coz it has a jangly geetar bit doesn't mean he's rippin off the Smiths for God sake!

that used to be "my" song, for a very long time. its exactly what tagtraeumerin said.
there are some moments in your life when you can't feel what love is, even though everyone seems happy and in love. you feel very out of place 'cause no one seems to understand how you feel. actually it looks like he despises all the happy people, yet there's a need to end this loneliness, you hope that someone will take you home...
anyway, and that line "i'm in the twilight of my youth, not that i'm going to remember" is so true. no one realizes that the exact moment is gonna be so important in one's life.

This is his song that I take most personally. In Hollywood Ca, late 1980's I was a club hopper who had a courier job. Well I was partying too much and crashed my car. I lost my job, girlfriend ,place to live and my car all within 2 weeks. when I wasn't sleeping outside I was sleeping at peoples homes for a night or two that I knew or recently met at clubs. I was lonely , confused and most of the time strung out of my mind. as I look back I see myself stumbling around...
