Last Train Home Lyrics
But we sing If we're going nowhere Yeah we sing If it's not enough And we sing Sing without a reason To ever fall in love
Well we sing if we're going nowhere Yeah we sing if it's not enough And we sing Sing without a reason To ever fall in love
Man, this song is so full of energy... so posessed... I just loved it.
And we sing Sing without a reason To ever fallllll innnn loooove.
People have different tastes in music, to each their own. I live in a house with seven people, want to know what they listen too?
The first one loves heavy rock (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabboth, ect.)
Another one likes poppy rock like Barenaked Ladies, OAR, John Mayer, ect.
Another one likes older school rap like Tupac, Run DMC and the like
Another one likes the new rap that is out like Usher, Lil Jon, Ludacris, ect.
Another one likes 60s and 70s rock like The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, ect.
Another one likes non-mainstream rock bands like July For Kings, Seven Mary Three, Theory of a Deadman, Caroline's Spine and the like.
Personally... I just like good music, and I don't understand why people totally turn themselves off to a whole style of music because of the "typical fans" that listen to that type of music. I'm not a punk but I like some stuff by Mest and the Sex Pistols. I'm not a hippie but I love most of the stuff The Doors did. I'm not some pop sensation idiot teenie bopper but I like some of the stuff artiests like Dave Matthews and John Mayer have done. I'm not a thug, but I like Tupac. I'm not a burnout, but I love Sublime. I'm not a heavy metal rock fan but I love Skynard and Smashing Pumpkins. I'm not a grunge fan but I love Nirvana, I don't look down on bands that have made it big, but I love smaller bands like Seven Mary Three, July For Kings, Cauterize, Emery and the like....
Honestly, back when I was in high school and even a little bit of the time when I was in college, I thought that the type of music you blasted out of your car was what everyone saw you as. In high school I listened to Tupac and DMX because that's what all my friends listened too. I came to college and everyone I first met were listening to Metallica and Smashing Pumpkins and I started to listen to them. Then I met some friends who liked stuff by The Beatles and The Who and other bands from the 60s...
You know what I realized?
It's that you can find great music in all genres. Heck, I hate country music in general, but there's a couple songs that they play at the bar that I kinda like when I'm drinking.
I really just listen to the lyrics of songs, I listen to the flow... and if I like it, I don't care that some nerdy kid likes it. If it's good music I don't care that it's "Christen" music done by a religious artist.
Sure, some bands are more musically talented then others, Sure, Silverchair's songs are a hell of a lot harder to play then Garth Brooks', but hey some people like bands like Metallica and others like bands like The All American Rejects that play songs with 3 chords, but if they like that music... who cares.
Every once in awhile I like to hear a "stupid" song by bands like The Barenaked Ladies because I'm having a bad day and hearing some funny lyrics makes me laugh (I don't think that Last Train Home is stupid).
My point (wow, I'm finally there) is that everyone is constantly changing. We're all at different points in our lives. Some of us are at the point where we just want to listen to Brittney Spears and go to clubs and dance, others are at the point where we've lost a good friend and listen to a song like "Freebird". Others just got over a bad breakup or divorce and a song like "Last Train Home" really lets them put things into perspective and it effects them.
What I'm trying to say is this... everyone's different, what's easy to one might be impossible to others. We're all struggling with our own issues and sometimes songs, no matter how stupid they are, might make a difference. If the message gets across, does it really matter if it takes 3 chords or 12? Personally, I don't think so...
I don't think that masterofpuppets was trying to tick anyone off... I know he was just trying to explain the way he viewed bands like Lostprophets, and of course everyones entitled to their opinions. I was just voicing my opinion in response to his comments, that's all.
On to the meaning of the song... I think it's about one of the guys in the band breaking up with a girl because he wanted to continue on with the band and she didn't want to have to live with that lifestyle (that's just based on the lyrics... I have met the guys at a show once, but I didn't get to talk to them long enough to find out any type of song meanings). I think this explanation makes sense though... especially the line about "the choices that we make" and "even when you think your right you have to give and take". Fame and sacrifice are often tied together, and I think that's what this song is about, though I am probably totally wrong...
I agree, every one has different opinions. besides it's better to like all kinds of music than block yourself into a box of one genre.

but what I really hate is when people trying to change your opinion.

im not very good at interpreting songs, but to me this song seems like its telling you to just live. do whatever you need to do. and maybe after you have broken up with someone you should take your down time and then get back up again. i dunno
killer tune, about a troubled relationship.
i agree with you Sspot and it is a great idea behind the song. and i'm amazed this song isn't over hit like every known song.
this song is about a very confused man, trying to figure out weather or not to fall in love, weather or not he is in love, and weather or not he should fall in love. he wonders what it would be like, he ponders on how the girl in question feels, and over all, hw muses on if he should get on the 'last train home', the way back to the love he'd once felt.
I think the song is about a relationship, which is troubled or possible about to break. And he's saying you can only love somebody once, which i personally belive is true, and from this he is saying, he cannot love anybody else again or like he has loved that person. Everytime I hear this song, I think of this girl that i know, who i met, and it was love at first sight and she is my true love, but we don't know what to do...
as soon as i read your comment my eyes widened cuz thats exactly whats going on with me lol. but yes im sure your views on this song are right

I think this song is about a friend he had, and they fell in love. ( a bad idea ) Eventually, after bitter fights, not only did they break up, they also stopped being friends. This song is basically him telling her that he misses her.
Holy shit. That's exactly what just happened to me. It's what i think of every time i hear this song...

Wow, this is an awesome song. Its full of feeling and emotion. Clearly, the apparent message speaks of love, and preaches not to give up even if love fails. It seems the motif of 'singing' seems to be some kind of rebellion or aggression against the failure of falling in love. Some kind of cry, a wailing perhaps.
I'm trying to find more songs like this. I've narrowed the genre down to "Post-Grunge." However, that does not help very much since Post-Grunge songs are not too similar to one another. Its the grungy distorted guitars that really did it for me. However, "Last Train Home" marks, what I am sure is, the first time i've come across a Post-Grunge song that has some deeper meaning.
its 1 of those songs that every1 can relate 2. it send a great message 2 "4get the sorrow thers still 2morrow!"
