Rock 'n' Roll with Me Lyrics
You always were the one that knew
They sold us for the likes of you
I always wanted new surroundings
A room to rent
While the lizards lay crying in the heat
Trying to remember who to meet
I would take a foxy kind of stand
While tens of thousands found me in demand
When you rock 'n' roll with me
No one else I'd rather be
Nobody here can do it for me
I'm in tears again
When you rock 'n' roll with me
Gentle hearts are counted down
The queue is out of sight and out of sounds
Me, I'm out of breath, but not quite doubting
I've found a door which lets me out!
When you rock 'n' roll with me
No one else I'd rather be
Nobody down here can do it for me
I'm in tears again
When you rock 'n' roll with me
Oooo-oo-oo-oo
Oh, when you rock 'n' roll with me
There's no one else I'd rather be
Nobody down here can do it for me
When you rock 'n' roll with me
When you rock 'n' roll, rock 'n' roll with me
No one else I'd rather, I'd rather be
Nobody down here can do it for me
I'm in tears, I'm in tears
When you rock 'n' roll with me
They sold us for the likes of you

While the lizards lay crying in the heat
Trying to remember who to meet
I would take a foxy kind of stand
While tens of thousands found me in demand

I'm in tears, I'm in tears
When you rock 'n' roll with me

Bowie's love letter, to all his true blue fans in the audience.
As with all '70's Bowie songs, best listened at maximum Mick Ronson.
@garyrboyce Mick Ronson didn't play on the Diamond Dogs album.

This song always makes me think of someone I love, and how joyous the moment is when you're with that person, doing something simple like dancing to rock and roll music.
Pretty class song, the chorus is a good one to sing along to. For some reason I just started randomly singing it to myself at work just now...
I love this song, it's so dramatic! I agree with flayerhater. =) thumbs up
Though many people believe this song not to be connected to the 1984 idea, but I actually found a way it could fit. I always thought of "Rebel Rebel" of being about Halloween Jack finding love with an unusual girl in the post-Apocalypse world and this song is about him and her spending time together and finding solace in rock music even though of the bad times which is why he is in tears because he is just so happy yet he knows that it's the Apocalypse and they could die anytime. He already references the relationship when he has them "taking drugs" and "jumping into the river holding hands" in Sweet Thing / Candidate.
This is Winston and Julia's love song. The line "A room to rent while the lizards lay crying in the heat" reminds me of the room above the shop that they would meet before Big Brother busted them.
Rock and roll with me refers to making love to someone you truly love. No one can ever disturb, erase or come between you and that memory.
this one an odd fit for Diamond Dogs...but it serves the purpose of tempo change up I guess
My least favorite track off of Diamond Dogs but I still like it. It's about finding solace in rock music, pretty obviously.
@Bonehead XL Well i guess there has to be a least favorite. I'm inclined to agree.
