Fall Dog Bombs the Moon Lyrics

Hope little girl
Come blow me away
I don't care much
I'll win anyway
Just a dog

I'm god damn rich
An exploding man
When I talk in the night
There's oil in my hands
What a dog

(CHORUS)
Fall dog is cruel and smart
Smart time breaks the heart
Fall dog bombs the moon
A devil in the marketplace
A devil in your bleeding face
Fall dog bombs the moon
(What a dog)

There's always a moron
Someone to hate
A corporate tie
A wig and a date
Just a dog

These blackest of years
That have no sound
No shape, no depth
No underground
What a dog

(CHORUS)

Nailed it, six. Seems that to a lot of Americans some place as remote as Iraq might as well be "the moon".

Two words.

President Bush.

I don't think Mr. Bowie is stupid enough to actually care about anything so trivial as politics.

As much as I see the references to Bush, I think it might be just as much about Tony Blair. I certainly wouldn't call Bush "cruel and smart." Maybe "cruel and fucking malfunctional."

Perhaps Cheney, in that case?

Maybe it's more of a generality about the situation. I don't know that Fall Dog could be pinned down to any one person.

Yeah, the reference to oil is really what makes me think this is about Bush and the war.

on bowie.com he called bush an "poor shrunked ill prepared sourpuss." hee hee. i love how creatively he insults people.

before this song never meant much to me because i didn't understand it and thought it was something weird about a dog, but thanks, guys, for adding meaning!

one of his best from the latest, the sad tone in it and the quietness in his bitter voice makes it a very beautiful song.

shows just how an anger-inspired Bowie does some fine dam songs too

I used to call myself 'Bowie's fall girl' all the time b4 this record was released sol he turned it around and called himself fall dog or alternatively me(both could be correct) when I was in smart time I.e. when my anti-psychotic drugs weren't working or I was off them and back to my brilliant best. Devil in your bleeding face devil in the market place? That's the way the drugs (prescription -don't get excited!) affect me - lmake me ugly and devilishly aggressive and people in public react badly to me accordingly. Oil on my hands is yes about corporate sort of wealth and worldliness but also about baby oil and his night time sex with Marianne. Blowing someone away is both to get rid of them and attract them. Typical of Bowie to leave you confused!

Wow...yet ANOTHER doggy song. I feel that this has a lot to do with politics and possibly immigration.
