Across the Universe (The Beatles cover) Lyrics
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away
Across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
CHORUS 1 (twice)
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on
Across the universe
Thoughts meander like the restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
CHORUS 1 (twice)
Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love, which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on and on
Across the universe
CHORUS 1 (thrice)
CHORUS 2 (twice)
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing's gonna
Nothing's gonna to change my world
CHORUS 3
Nothing's gonna change it
Nothing's gonna change it
Hey
CHORUS 3 (twice)
Nothing's gonna change my world
CHORUS 3
Nothing's gonna change my world
They slither wildly as they slip away
Across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
They call me on and on
Across the universe
Thoughts meander like the restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love, which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on and on
Across the universe
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing's gonna
Nothing's gonna to change my world
Nothing's gonna change it
Nothing's gonna change it

I have no idea what some of you are talking about, this cover is fantastic, as Bowie always is.
During a concert after John Lennon's death David Bowie stopped to talk about him for awhile before singing "Imagine". The funny part of that talk is when he talks about asking John about his own (Bowie's) music, what he thought of it... his reply?
'Well, it's just rock and roll with lipstick on it'
Totally unrelated to this particular song I know, just thought I'd share (and I do like this version... it's different).
Holy shit, Bowie covered Across the Universe? I've got to hear this.
You REALLY REALLY don't.
I love David Bowie, he is a truely brilliant and original artist, but christ almighty, he crapped all over this from a great height.
I think it was when he was on the coke.
Yeah this is a horrible cover. I think Bowie could have done a much better job with it :/
this cover is amazing i don't know what you guys are talking about. i probably like this one better than the original.
same here, i prefer this one over the original but then again i'm addicted to bowie :(
anyone know a rehab center?
John Lennon sings with Bowie on this cover.
I appreciate how Bowie has given this song a new perspective, and now we can listen to it and appreciate it without the squealing sounds of Lennon's synthesizer experiments.
Don't get me wrong, I like the Beatles' version, too, but it's nice to listen to a less messy version every now and then.
Lennon plays guitar on this apparently and Bowie said he wanted to make a more angst-driven version of the song as the other versions seem to just be saying 'nothing's gonna change my world' non-chalantly.
I know he did a Lennon cover, but for Pete's sake Lennon was with hom during the Young Americans sessions. Personally, I think this is a great cover. Also see the new movie by the same title coming soon.
