Daylight Lyrics
Did you hear the news today?
I'm not coming home, no
And I wished it all away
I felt so alone, yeah
And the darkness crept it's way
Like stars we know will die too soon
There is never any sunrise here in the shadows of eclipsing moons
Crawling on a tightrope
The bravest thing I have is hope
Daylight, save me
Daylight, save me
Tonight, tonight
Halogen, the lights will flicker
Incadescent burning lies
And the silence stands for nothing
Desperate I search the skies
Aching for a spark
Trembling in pitchest dark
Daylight, save me
Daylight, save me
Tonight, tonight
Mission Control: U.S.S. Gloria, this is mission control, do you copy?
we have lost contact with the U.S.S. Gloria
U.S.S. Gloria: Mission Control, this is the U.S.S. Gloria, do you read me?
Mayday, we have lost primary guidance functions
News Reporter: The crew is now out of radio contact.
presently there is no way for us to know whether they
are alive or dead.
our hopes and prayers go out with you all.

good to hear your voice
we are coming out of the eclipse now.
i see the sunlight. it's beautiful
the sunlight is beautiful.
Jesus Christ, Light of the World
You never did forget me
And when I bled in darkness, You held me
Still held me
when desparate nights I cursed You
You loved me, still loved me
Jesus Christ, You dry the tears
You break my heart of stone
Your words are life
Cut marrow through
The darkness, to the bone
A heart of flesh You gave me
Only You can save me
Savior

I'm surprised no one has added any comments here, this is one of bS2's best songs.
It's about feeling lost and wondering if God really is there for you. They use being caught in an eclipse and losing contact with Earth as a metafore for this, and it's really good. Then end where they come out of the eclipse and Reese sings about realizing that God is there for you no matter what is beautiful.
Good job thats the same thing I got out of it. This really is the most inspiring song by B.S.S.
Its a metaphorical song about a ship being lost in the darkness of space and then being saved by the light of the sun (Son). Its about someone who felt nothing and was cold and cruel and had their heart broken by the love of Christ. Its very emotional and beautiful. It also sticks to a theme that seems to appear in their other songs that says that faith/hope is not a way of coping with realities that you can't handle but rather that accepting hope is brave.
This song probably the best on the album, which says a lot because Light of Things is one of my favorite albums. All the songs are just kind of leading to this climax and resloution. The passion in Reese's voice is amazing. The perfect ending to a near-perfect album
I also think that its about being lost in space and how that compares to a sinner who is lost...and then finding home, finding light, finding the sun, and that is finding Christ.
You all have got the overall meaning completely right. I really liked the lines:
Halogen, the lights will flicker Incandescent burning lies
It compares the "fake" light given off by the halogen lamps to the "comfort" found in worldly things and the "real" light from the sun to the safety of Christ's love.
i think the bridge is about coming out of this complete darkness or coming out of sin and seeing how beautiful things can be
