Can anyone explain that part? "torn up pages" I'm not understanding why they are torn. ty :)

when ever I listen to this song, I always think about how a girl and a boy are opening up to a new part in their relationship: making love. And when I listen to:

I think about how parents always say that when you make love out of marrige it's a shame. So, perhaps he is saying "This is a brand new chapter in both our lives. People may say that it's a shame to do what we are doing. (in other words it's reckless, just like torn up pages) But, everything in the universe just seems to be..right." And all that is happening in that single moment is allowing him to find a whole new sense of courage that he never knew he possessed. Then as he sings "As I proceed to run my fingers through her hair And forget everyone who's jaded, 'cause they don't matter and I don't care No, 'cause they don't matter and I don't care "
he thinks about all the consiquences other people have gone through because of the one single action he and her are doing. (mainly having a child, or leaving one another, and being heart broken) But, as they continue, he realizes that he loves her so much, any one else who as ever been "jaded" doesn't matter to him, and he could care less about them. Only her and him matter right now.

I love those lyrics. And i think the 'torn up pages' are refering to a diary of sorts, becuz when you write something that makes you happy, like about what you and your lover did all day, you want to go back and read it over and over. And the pages are bound to get torn and dirtyed up a little bit.
Thats what I think it means.
I dont know what this song means, Its probably your own interpretation, but heres mine...
Last summer, I met a girl... I was 15, and she was 18.. already that is messed a little bit. But we hung out, and we both kinda developed feelings.. we stopped talking for a bit and then..
So one night, "it" just happened.. The first verse was me sitting there, scared of what I was about to do, I wasnt a virgin, but she was 18, and I knew it was wrong, but It felt right... I didnt know how she felt, asking her if things were fine and what not, and this was also therapy for me to get my ex outta my mind, and she did tell me not to worry... After a while, I had enough courage to kiss her... The chorus is me finally getting courage and even though no one would understand and think its gross that shes 18 and all, we didnt care... The next verse, looking at her, and her beauty, really was shocking and such.. The "torn up pages" was how we didnt talk for a few months and we were starting a new chapter... The brash and hopeful is like a metaphor for her saving me from the pain I was in and how heart broken I was from my ex when I met her.. And the last part, well, that explains itself...
Basically, It was about crossing a line we couldnt turn back after, We had sex, and it changed us... We still talk and all, and are close, And have had sex a few times, But we both know how jaded others are, and are waiting a little longer until we can truly be together...
