Does no one kow what this song is about, or does no one care. It's very simple, for a Mudvayne song;] This song is about HATING yourself, wanting to escape your life, and even talking to yourself. (you got that?) Who in this life actually likes themself? Really, this song is about someone who wants to be the reflection that they see in the mirror rather that live their life. They wish that simply breaking the mirror would rid them of all their problems and end their life. Then, they are actually ansering themselves through the mirror, saying "YEAH, you're a cleaver one!" This is a great song, you dislike yourself.
To me, this song is about how you would be in a different reality. Asking if you would be how you are, or would you be completely different. And I think durirng the song they keep hinting he is happy with himself so he is curious on how things might be in a different life.
This is a simple Man that is probably quite angry at the time, and looks into a mirror. He thinks, and starts to hate his situation, and talks about the image on the mirror having a better life than him, and it makes him mad.
Then he notes that it is just superficial (Meaning nothings there, flat, theres nothing really in the mirror), and slows down and starts basically talking to himself refering to it was a "Shadow of a man".
To the people that like Fairy Tales and take it as a literal alternate reality ... look at the lyrics...It clearly notes that he is just thinking about himself.
I agree with most of what you all are saying, but I think he's trying to get you to question your own existence. He's saying that perhaps everybody we see every day is just a reflection. Maybe YOU are just a Shadow of a Man, and when you look in the mirror, maybe you are seeing the real world.

"Do you reflect me or do I reflect you?" This part of this particular song gets me every time. It's something to really really think about.

I somewhat agree with Rapist in a Glass, except I think that the person is angry period, because this life and this world is so crappy, not because there could be an alternate reality.
