This is about the band's original bassist, who died of cancer after the aming of this record. There is a line in the last chorus that says:
"There in my mind, standing just to my right"
This is where jeff normally stood on stage in relation to lead singer mitch.

wow i had no idea, i loved this song as a love song, but i love it more now that i know its about the bassist. SR-71...simply a great band writing about how people actaully feel in certain relationships at certain times.
I thought that he was talking about his wife. Though I guess it works both ways. He says: "Angel bathed in Light..." And I thought that that would be directed to a more feminine direction, wouldn't you say?
It's about the death of someone close to him. Look at the last two lines "a life you're used to cheating has finally caught on".

yeah he remembers someone who died and dreams of that person and brings em back to life every night, cos theyre in his dreams.
This is not about the original bass player, seeing as how he died in 2004 and this album was released in 2002. I believe he was still a member of the band when Tomorrow was released anyway.
I'm glad you brought this up. When I look at the dates on wiki, you're right... although this song being about Jeff Reid seems to work pretty well. The only way it'd still work is if Jeff knew he had cancer and this song was about him because of what was to come. But it doesn't say he knew that early..
