Drift Away (Feat. Dobie Gray) Lyrics

Day after day I'm more accused
Yet I look for your light your shining down on me
So I believe in the promise that I will never lose
When Im feeling the shame, I just call on your name
Oh, satan is tricky, boys, so guard your soul
You don’t wanna get lost in a lie and drift away

Oh, satan is tricky, boys, so guard your soul
You don’t wanna get lost in a lie and drift You don’t wanna get lost in a lie and drift away
(Jesus is the only way?)

Stop believing those people your wastin' time
You don’t always have to make sense of things he tells us to do
The world inside your mind come on it’s time to shine

Im looking to you alway needing you to carry me through

And when my heartbeats free
it’s your melody that moves me
And when I have blueheart mood
The spirit comin' through to soothe me
Thanks for the purpose that you've made for me
I want you to know I believe in your son
Father son and spirit the trinity
You guided me along even when I was wrong

I like this. Its just, like was said, a feel good song. Once I was upset about one thing or another, and I heard this song, and it just kind of made everything better. Kind of strange, but thats how it is.

It always bugs me that the chorus keeps talking about getting "lost in your rock and roll", and yet this song's pretty much the furthest thing from rock & roll possible.

not all rock and roll is hard heavy rock. all classic rock bands have slow songs.

I don't know why, but I really like this song. I usually hate country music, but this song is an exception.

Personally I think its epic! First time I heard this song it was around midnight and I was driving across the middle of nowhere New Mexico on my way home in my '67 convertible mustang with the top down to keep me awake. It was amazing.

Uh... this is not a rock song, or even a country song for that matter.

Dobie Gray (who does background vocals in this version) did the original as a soul tune.

This song scares me. I don't like it. AHHH

How is it scary? It's a great song.

@AngelsOnKnees me too I was inspired to change the lyrics and I was in the melody of the other beat
