It's the disease of the age
It's the disease that we crave
Alone at the end of the rave
We catch the last bus home

Corporate America wakes
Coffee republic in case
We open the latch on the gate
Of the hole that we call our home

Protect me from what I want,
Protect me protect me

Maybe we're victims of fate
Remember when we'd celebrate
We'd drink and get high until late
And now we're all alone

Wedding bells ain't gonna chime
With both of us guilty of crime
And both of us sentenced to time
And now we're all alone

Protect me from what I want,
Protect me protect me

Protect me from what I want,
Protect me protect me

Protect me from what I want,
Protect me protect me

Protect me from what I want,
Protect me protect me

General CommentIndignity was the closest..Brian Molko said that the song was "written when I was hurting deeply and coming out of a very self-destructive relationship, hence the creepy atmosphere."

Also, regarding comments about the nationalities of the band members...they're not a "French band", Molko speaks French fluently because he grew up partly in Luxembourg. The bassist is Swedish and the drummer is English.

And while Molko's mother happened to be in Belgium when he was born, he is not Belgian...his father is American with French and Italian roots, and his mother is Scottish. He calls himself an "expatriate American", meaning as a child at least he was an American citizen, but lived in other countries (mostly in Europe), and considers himself more European. Hope that clears things up... :]
