Special Needs Lyrics

Remember me when you're the one who's silver screen
Remember me when you're the one you always dreamed
Remember me when everyone's noses start to bleed
Remember me, special needs

Just 19 and sucker's dream I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour

Remember me when you clinch your movie deal
And think of me stuck in my chair that has four wheels
Remember me through flash photography and screams
Remember me, special dreams

Just 19 this sucker's dream I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour
Just 19 and sucker's dream I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour

Remember me...

Just 19 this sucker's dream I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour
Just 19 and sucker's dream I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour

"noses start to bleed" is probably a drug reference, which ties into entertainment culture

My Interpretation

brian molko is a master of idiom spin. seriously, he takes folk tongue to another level in artistic genius...

but i'm doing exactly what everybody hates on this board: dissecting the band and not the song. so, what does it mean...?

i don't know. i can make my projections, but anything outside of that would be far too literal...; perhaps that's the point with this one? the only universal truth i can discern from this would be to remember the follies of youth... your youth. what were you like at 19? did you take a dehabilitating detour into nose-wrenching drugs, or something else that took you away from your chosen path (stardom, perhaps?). contrasting against these experiences helps you in the end... don't forget that, i guess.

(&: i will.)

when he says "think of me stuck in my chair that has four wheels", I always thought he meant, think of me even when we are old and in wheelchairs.

About someone who was crippled at 19 after a brawl "when everyone's noses start to bleed". The assailant dreams of being a movie star, and the crippled person wants him to always remember what he's done, "after 6 months off (in prison?) for bad behaviour"

Special Needs- could be seen as two different things. Either the person actually has special needs (disability isn't perticually special needs) or they need something special to help them through a tough time..namely the person this song is aimed at. Personally I think that this song is based on some kind of experience that Brian or one of the other band members may have had and is based on something once said to them. I see two possible readings of this song, that a person was in some sort of an accident at the age of 19 and is in a relationship with big dreams and hopes that has to be finished because of the accident. The middle part with the repetition of "me" can be read as an eccoe of the sirens of an ambulance that references to the "6 months off" which could be the time they spent in hospital, but they're blaming themselves. Another reading could be that it's about someone with a coke adiction "whenever noses start to bleed". The person has a strong adiction to coke and the song is aimed at someone that they need to get over it but couldn't stand the pain of watching them do that anymore. The "6 months off for bad behaviour" could be a reference to time spent in rehab and the realisation that it's their own fault. they could be reflecting on all the things they want from life that the other person can have but they can't because they can't get off the drugs. The middle "me" part could be a reference to them getting their release again because it slows down this could show them going into a state of relaxation due to the drugs. Either way this is a very self centred song about someone who's always feeling sorry for themselves and concentrates only on the things that they can't have. (This is just a personal reading into the song..it's probably not all that acurate..just thought i'd share my ideas).

The ending of a relationship, because one person has moved on to bigger and better things. Fame, and everything that comes with it, could be interpreted as a metaphor for a better life altogether.

Brian echoes over and over "Remember me". Remember what I did for you. Remember how I've helped you. Remember me when you succeed in your new and better life.

The chair with four wheels may not be a physical disability. In comparison to the new life the other person is having, Brian feels disabled and stuck. Possibly powerless and helpless.

Ditto. :D

its about a handicapped man, that when he was 19 years old he had a girlfriend, and later she became famous and he a handicapped,so he wants that she remember he and who he was for her.

thats why the video is about remembering the past, thats why they are having sex with nothing, cuz they are remembering.

thats why he says suckers dream, and dream obscene, because be famous for him is impossible.

So its The tale of a celebrity has-been told from a wheelchair. Someone reminiscing how the shoe is on the other foot and worrying that they’ll be written out of their ex’s biography.

I agree with practicly everyone on here but this reminds me of my friend on coke. he did it to stop his worrying and hes been off it for 4 months and he is more sketchy than i dress for fuck sakes, but to me special needs is that need for coke that just don't go away. Remember me when you're the one who's silver screen Alot of the actors/musical artists i listen to were on coke on the road to victory (and still are) Remember me when you're the one you always dreamed reminds me of my friends ex saying i really wanna do coke and me saying all u wanna do it is just so u can fit in with the hardcore punx and she said yes Remember me when everyone's noses start to bleed Don't know how but when u do coke sometimes or maybe all the time ur nose bleeds Remember me, special needs and remember me coke

It's about two friends,of which one became popular and one remained a mediocre. The line "Remember me says" that they lost touch.

It's all about how one of them became famous, while

He is stuck in his chair that has four wheels,it has nothing to do with wheelchair,it's just a plain mediocre office chair with four wheels he's stuck in.

He's talking about his famous friend once again here, who used to dream about being a musician or an actor when he was 19 - it's obvious that Brian is talking about himself here, since in his teenage years, despite his father wanting him to be a banker,he wanted to study drama. It's also known that he came out as a bisexual at the age of 19,which explains the obscene part.

Lines and are not about a person who is limited, but one who wanted more from life.

It's probably dedicated to Brian's friend from teenage years who he lost touch with.

@monoplexster I think the same thing about the "chair that has four wheels" - it's a really indirect way of referring to a wheelchair and that makes me think of the office desk job meaning being very feasible.

Brian wrote this song about himself, the lyrics show the change in him, from being a young person with normal issues like anyone else to being the singer of a world wide famous band. Hes saying "remember me" almost as though he wants to stay true to what he used to be. When i saw them play this song live before it Brian said "this song is about one of my favourite topics, myself"
