Sleeping With Ghosts Lyrics
The sea's evaporated
Though it comes as no surprise
These clouds we're seeing
Their explosions in the sky
It seems it's written
But we can't read between the line
Hush
It's okay
Dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
Cause soulmates never die
This one world vision
Turns us in to compromise
What good's religion
When it's each other we despise
Damn the government
Damn the killing
Damn the lies
Hush
It's okay
Dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes
Cause soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Never die
Soulmates never die
Never die...
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Though it comes as no surprise
These clouds we're seeing
Their explosions in the sky
It seems it's written
But we can't read between the line
It's okay
Dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
Cause soulmates never die
Turns us in to compromise
What good's religion
When it's each other we despise
Damn the government
Damn the killing
Damn the lies
It's okay
Dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes
Cause soulmates never die
Never die
Soulmates never die
Never die...
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die

Brian: Inspired by a crazy American psychologist who believes in the cliché of eternal love. He thought two of his patients were soulmates who’d been reincarnated through many previous lives.
' I wanted to explore the relationship between the present and the memory.
All of us sleep with ghosts from the past, we carry them with us and they have a permanent effect on our daily lives.
These ghosts embody all the people we loved, who have been important in our lives, who have changed us.
While a lot of people spend their lives in therapy to manage them...I have the chance to carry them.'
Brian Molko
I agree with Jas. I think it's about the end of the world because of man's inability to compromise or to obtain the "one world vision" . And I think that he is compromising his love or soulmate by saying "Hey it's the end of the world but at least we'll have each other in the end." That is my overall interpretation and let me make some remarks about the lyrics themselves. I think during verse one he is refering to nuclear war or WWIII. The "exploding clouds" are the mushroom clouds. And if I;m correct doesn't it say in the Bible the WWIII will be the end of the world? So that could explain the "where its written" line. The "one world vision" is the idea that everyone gets along and look past race, religion, culture, etc, etc, but this oblivously takes a compromise on the behalf of everyone.
@Eulogy that "one world vision" is the New World Order, what the governments are trying to bring in, think of 1984 meets Brave New World, a bit of research and connecting the dots of current events should be obvious enough. One world vision is dystopia because WE CANT have a world of peace under one tyrannical government, if people want world peace then get rid of government because once we have no masters we can then be truly free

I think it could be about falling in love with someone who is totally different than you and everyone hating you for it..and after awhile you start hating each other "When it's each other we despise" just my opinion
I think Its About The End of the world "The Seas Evaporated though it comes as no suprise" and War Spreading through the world "it seams its written but we cant read the lines" is like Its Obvious this would happen but the worlds to stupid to figure it out
And the "Dry your eyes, Soulmate dry your eye" as well as "Soulmates never die" he either conforting himself or his love whom Has Lost Him or else Died themselfs
i think this song is about someone who is obsessing over...or is dwelling on a relationship, like 'sleeping with ghosts' is basically sleeping with someone who isnt there, or who is not there anymore. the line 'soulmates never die' represents the fact that the person believed this statement, and even though the person was dead, or the relationship was over, they were still soulmates.
Perhaps this falling out is not between the two lovers. The singer could easily be comforting his soulmate as they lament the deplorable condition of the world right now. They are both disgusted by how things are right now, we've warmed our planet to the point where the seas are sinking, the skies in so many countries are clouded by bomb-smoke nearly every day. The government, put in to place as an aid to man, is now just selfish and murderous. So many people are religious and think that leads to morality, but the USA is waging a crusade against Islam. Is it worth it to "love" a god to the exclusion of loving your fellow man?
Like I said, it's a lament. They're so sad at, essentially, the dying breaths of humanity. But there is no need for his soulmate to cry, because regardless of what we do to this world, soulmates will be eternally alive in each other's hearts.
While humanity or the whole world is destroyed by the "one world" government, with killing and lies, soulmates, that true connection with another person, never dies. Soulmates are on a plane above the horror of the world. That's the only comfort.
I think its about someone falling in love with an enemy of their government or religion... Possibly caught up in a religious war and meeting someone from the opposite side who you know is the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with...
"Turns us in to compromise What good's religion When it's each other we despise Damn the government Damn the killing Damn the lies "
is saying how he's been forced to hate and kill people of a certain background due to government propaganda.
"cause soulmates never die" Possibly forced to kill his soulmate?
