I Cut Myself, Too Lyrics

Are you holding out
Are you satisfied of making confessions
I'm moving on and you're just waiting around
While you were down
And looking for someone to follow
Misunderstood
I understood you well
If it helps to ease your mind
I'm not putting you out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight
If it helps to ease your mind
You're not putting me out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight
And it helps to know
To know you're not alone, you're not fucked up
Just waiting patient, waiting for the call
And just like you
Now and then I cut myself to pieces
And it rains
It pours
But, it doesn't make any sense
If it helps to ease your mind
I'm not putting you out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight
If it helps to ease your mind
You're not putting me out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight
Now you're crushing like cement
Til you find your perfect fit
And stand out from the rest
Shine on you the best
Well, we all fall down
Is it better now, or are you still broken
I'm moving on and you're still waiting around
If it helps to ease your mind
I'm not putting you out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight
If it helps to ease your mind
You're not putting me out tonight
Don't you think you need some time
I'm not putting you in tonight

Ah the stages of how emo all got started. Im not blaming Gob entirely but songs called I cut myself too dont help

It's still a top song, when you listen to it, it doesn't really sound that emotional or anything, has that typical Gob sound to it. Good stuff from them

Sounds like some guy feeling sorry for himself and thinking his life really sucks when he doesn't actually get out and do anything to make a difference... self explanitory I guess.

I think that the song name says it all here, although it's something you have to think about.

Most people pass off the song as emo upon reading "I Cut Myself". However, they neglect the fact that it says "I Cut Myself, Too". This one word bares significance when taken with the line -: "And it helps to know To know you're not alone, you're not fucked up"

  • along with other lines throughout the song, hinting towards another person. To me, this song represents a date with a girl who shows the singer her scars from cutting herself ("are you satisfied with making confessions"). It worries her that she deals with her emotions this way, especially because she doesn't see it as normal ("to know you're not alone, you're not fucked up". However, instead of thinking badly of the girl ("if it helps to ease your mind, you're not putting me out tonight"), he reveals that, he too, cuts himself to deal with life (hence the title).

However, even though he does cut himself, and he understands what she's going through, he doesn't want to stay with her ("I'm not putting you in tonight").
