Pledge of Allegiance Lyrics

This is a commericial for my army and my navy
This is a rehearsal for all the empty promises I will be
And I won't let you down
Done letting you down

This is a commercial for freedom is in hades
This is a rehearsal of incoherant double talk and maybes
And it won't let you down
Done letting you down

It's okay to be their disappointment baby
It's okay to fly the flag
It's okay to be my disappointment baby
It's okay to fly the flag

This is a commercial for my army and my navy
This is a rehearsal for all the empty promises I will be
And I won't let you down
Done letting you down

I think this song is about Canada... really. Canada joined the "war on terror" even though it was an awful idea... when he says "It's okay, to be my dissapointment baby - it's okay, to fly the flag" its pretty much saying "You know what, you dont need to jump into this war... it's okay to back out and say "no" "

Not only the best album of 2003 but also one of the greatest albums ever made, Matthew Good's Avalanche will sadly go unheard by a majority of music lovers due to Good's relative obscurity.
Avalanche is a sprawling epic with lyrics general enough to allow for multiple themes to be interpreted, a perfect example being the track 'Pledge of Allegiance,' which could be viewed as a simple protest song or a metaphor for the deep differences between two people.
