Ebolarama Lyrics

Boys: Shoot to thrill from the hip. It's time we put the "act" in action. We've tricked the pigs into thinking that this auction is a pageant. In no time there will be makeup on our new set of cutlery. The livestock is star struck. They're all salivating like ravenous cartoons. Goddamn animal. You'd better watch where you spit. Squeal like soft music. If it helps, we'll dim the lights on the floor. Neon bulbs are the cosmetics of swine. Everybody looks quite dazzling, trussed up in their formal attire. You'd make a great secret if I could keep you, but we all spill our guts. We're locked and loaded. Drip fed and bloated. Our trigger fingers snagged in the mouse trap of the moment. Turns the lights out on us, like a moth left in the cold. In the dark, begging for more. When the urgency strikes you, you'd better not lose your nerve. It's the rush that the cockroaches get at the end of the world. It's alright. There's a pail by the bed if you need one, but you're doing just fine, when in rome we shall do as the romans, when in hell we do shots at the bar. Last call, kill it. We don't thing in terms of the morning afters, and we don't utter a single word of the nights before. In the meantime we're just thoughtless incessant buzzing apparatus. Disillusioned and lonelier than the last man standing. It doesn't get any better than this so run like hell. This is a rock and roll take over. Living each day one night at a time. There were mercy fucks, there was blood. You should have been there by my side. This is passion, this is red handed denial. I have no lover and she hasn't the prettiest eyes. Last call, kill it.

I agree with the majority of posts about Ebolarama being about young men drinking and partying with women whom they'd like to take advantage of for the night.

However, I feel that most are missing the infectious, narcissistic sarcasm that is so apparent in Keith's lyrics.

What I mean is that while the song is essentially about "partying like a rock star" it is not about celebrating such behavior, but rather putting a negative prose on it through the use of sarcasm. He (Keith) is caught up in the rock 'n' roll life style but he, unlike most, realizes that it is of no good when said and done.

"We don't think in terms of the morning afters, and we don't utter a single word of the nights before. In the meantime we're just thoughtless incessant buzzing apparatus. Disillusioned and lonelier than the last man standing. It doesn't get any better than this so run like hell."

I definitely agree with this. Best interpretation on this page.

yeah, having read through all the comments. finally someone stopped ignoring some pretty important lines. there's a whole negative slant on the song that negates the value of all this fun.

i think it's just an obvious dichotomy of life he leads.

Doesnt' it sound like the song is about Lord of the Flies?

Good point! Keith Buckley was an English Major and an English teacher before he became a hardcore singer (God, I love to talk about him) and he undoubtedly read and maybe even discussed the book in his class.

I think that this song is anti-emo, "It's time we put the 'act' in action." and "I have no lover and she hasn't the prettiest eyes." are probably the best lyrics in the song to show that. But I haven't heard any other songs by this band so I wouldn't know. As for what the song means, no idea.
