Godspeed Us to Sea Lyrics
Turns out I never had a thought at all. I've been talking in my sleep, reciting teleprompted anthems. A marionette strung tight to the executives upstairs. I almost had myself convinced that I meant everything I said. What a shame. Oh captain, my captain, you've been drinking. What happened? I've been slurring my cadences and blacking out when I stand. I know about your son, who never did return from the war. But there was poison in that bottle, I tell you. I'm coming out with my hands in the air. And the voice that you're hearing, isn't me. What you are hearing isn't mine. There's been some horrible mistake. I'm a proud god-fearing registered democrat. This is all some elaborate scheme and it will be cleared up when the governor beckons for me. He'll clear my name. It appears that the inmates have overrun the asylum. There's a madman at the wheel. We are not even remotely capable of keeping our heads about us. We've abandoned all semblance of presence. Dead bolted, buckled in. Keeping our word to the sinking ship. Let the rats orchestrate the new mutiny, I'll met you overboard.

wow the lyrics in this song are such a powerful and intelligent critique on American politics it's incredible. They even make references to the poem Oh captain My captain by Walt Whitman. This is probably ETiD's smartest song.
yea i love these lyrics, and im agreeing with losemoney, concerning the reference to politics. Definatley a kick to the balls. I also think he makes a reference to former prez clinton (fag) when saying "And the voice that you're hearing, isn't me. What you are hearing isn't mine. There's been some horrible mistake".
my favorite line is "I'm a proud god-fearing registered democrat." because thats what most liberal and democratic personalities are made up of. Im not taking a side either way (although i do have my opinions) but you cant be in politics and be religious (or atleast a good christian), therfor they say they believe in God when most likely they probably if only fear a God
This leaves out the two lines after "poison in that bottle". Should read
Tell the tower I've been hijacked Tell the captain this vehicle's been stolen
also crazycore you're a moron. this is about the cooptation of good men of all ideologies by a faceless system.
i think the "Tell the tower I've been hijacked Tell the captain this vehicle's been stolen" referes to a possible false presidency by bush and theres a madman at the wheel is also refering to bush
i know about your son who never did return from the war, but there was poison in the bottle I tell you.
quoting the movie its a wonderful life.
