Skrying

i think it's about a child's happy place where he or she feels safe. they go there to feel better. then life takes its course and robs them of it. and it's missing ur happy place.

This song so obviously involves a child (boy/girl) that was brought into the world of child sexual abuse at a young age. and then during this. she some how during one of these sessions god fatially brutilised, most likly died. to this child. sex was an outlet. or all the child knew.

"place to make things ok" could be putting something into the sexual organ. it does release brain chemicals of happieness during that act.

but in summery. its all about sexual abuse on children.

Actually you're all wrong....The End of All Things to Come is an astrology concept album....hence all the zodiac symbols....This song in particular is the one for Scorpio's....check it out on wikipedia.org if you have doubts....In my opinion it has a drug type reference...."cauterize and force the sword"..as in heating up the syring and injecting whatever..."Learning the secret knock, a nickel to enter that place.."...could be refering to the knock to enter a drug house with a nickel bag of your drug of choice..."children wrestle to seal the bag and storing deep in that place"...the kids don't want to get caught with it so they hide it...."do you remember the bedroom, was it your cell or was it your tomb".....could be about how most people lock themselves in their room for awhile and stay secluded because they're so deep into drugs......I also know that skrying is a type of ritual....so it could be about doing rituals while on drugs.....or he's the dealer watching his junkies....i mean read the lyrics..just my opinion.....

Haven't spent much time yet figuring how it relates to the song, but 'skrying' was a ritual used by alchemists Edward Kelly and John Dee long ago (around 1360 or so, i think) in which Kelly looked into a crystal orb and saw visions of angels which pointed a staff at different lines, cracks and spaces in the orb which then would glow to form letters or symbols, supposedly sometimes symbols of an angelic language. They were given to these two and told that if they worked with the information given for 7 years, and worked together equally, they could learn to make the Philosopher's Stone, which could bring the Apocalypse, the new stage of mankind's evolution and higher enlightenment(not the destructive Apocalypse most people think of now). They did the best they could, but the 7 year mark came and went with no major changes.

It's theorized that this was possibly a hoax created by Edward Kelly(as he was the one who claimed to be able to skry the orb, seeing the angels and the symbols revealed to him) to take advantage of John Dee and the King's(can't remember which king it was at that time) desire for the powerful Philosopher's Stone of legend..

It is strange that after this time period, Edward Kelly was no longer mentioned in history...and some think there's possibility that he kept vital information to himself and ran off with it. Who knows? but how all that may relate, i am really not sure... Just thought some of you might appreciate a little historic background on Skrying.

As said before, TEOATTC is a concept album with each song pertaining to a sign of the Zodiac. Skrying is about Scorpio. Some of the connections are: "Libido steams," (scorpios are known to have the strongest sexual desire of the zodiac) "Games of passion taste so sweet" would also tie into this as does the bedroom theme "Do you remember the bedroom". Scorpios are a water sign and supposed to be reflective, deep, pensive; they are also receptive to darkness and the occult hence "Skrying through reflections in a pool, I see death coming." Scorpio is also associated with the Death card in Tarot reading. It rules it 8th house which covers birth, death, transformation, sexual relationships and deeply committed relationships of all kinds, and the occult and psychic matters. Being a negative sign Scorpio is introverted: "INTROVERTED." Furthermore scorpio's color is deep red: "all crimson." Finally, Scorpios is very secretive, and much of the song deals with secrets

This song has a strong meaning behind it that cannot be seen by simply examining pieces of it. Chad Grey is a great storyteller, however sporadic the lyrical content may be. Skrying, in terms of Luciferian theology, is the act of reflecting on ones self in the truest sense of the word. This song is rather scary, this is true. However, not in the occult aspect, but rather in the hidden content.

In essence, this track conveys a sense of constriction and demeaning sexual advances. The lyrics speak for themselves in terms of this idea. "Little girls severity, little boys begging mercy, sticks break on me" this is the first sign of child molestation. He is reflecting (skrying) on the inner sanctum of his adolescence and innocence and how that was stricken from him.

"My cost, the price of a broken doll" is reflecting the concept that a young lady (or possibly male) that was once beautiful, has been destroyed and broken emotionally by these acts. He later chimes in stating "Games of passion taste so sweet" It seems he is reflecting deeper on the emotional torment and falsified sense of love and acceptance that one experiences when subjected to this molestation, and follows with his anger towards this distrust "cut his throat and slaughter meat" finalizing his thoughts he has kept inside as "my secrets."

These reflections are in a pool of emotion, as he states "skrying through reflections in a pool." He sees the death of himself coming in a depressive sense, pushing him to reflect on that one safe place he had, which is signaled as "the bedroom"

this song is best one off the new album.It has a great bass line,but it still blows compared to LD50 et al.

Why is it a scary song?

Actually...musically this album is far superior to LD50. A lot more thought went into it. More complicated riffs and drum parts.
