Trapped In The Wake Of A Dream

We go through everyday life being pushed from all directions until you eventually lose it. When pushed over the edge, you fight back and unleash all frustrations built up.

This is by far my favorite Mudvayne song.

I think it's about a guy who always gets put down by everyone, and then he finally finds the courage to stand up for himself and make himself a better person. He's telling his story to us, telling us that if he can do it, so can we. "You're all killers!" could mean that everyone is always killing his goals and dreams. "Trapped in the Wake of a Dream" could mean that he was stuck in his dreams because he never had the self esteem or encouragement needed to achieve them.

One of the best songs I've ever heard.

The wake of a dream refers to the hell u go through between the time you dream up a fantasy and the time you wake it. Hell is not good, nor bad, it comforts him, angers him, saddens him, and a whole buch of other emotions.

personally i think the song is empowering. "Throw the chains all away, take control of your life. Powers known, THIS IS MY... DREAM! " at first he is at the mercy of his "demons". but be begins to realize that no matter whats happening to him this is HIS dream and he doesnt have to tolerate it. the dream is a metaphor for life and existance. hes telling us "Through light this mind awakens, I draw the line from then and now." and with that light...whatever light it may be... it can be anything for any of us...he can take control of his life. Things from the past will no longer hold him down which gives him the power to control his FUTURE.

To me it's about someone who breaks free from the control of others and starts to live the way he wants it. He used to be too weak to do that but found the strength in his individuality, maybe in his hatred as well. While doing so he recognizes that the people that used to treat him like shit aren't any better in the end, they just gave up. "Crushing, all unwilling, this is so unstoppable, hard as nails, hook that holds, reach down and find the strength of many in you" - I always have the metaphorical picture of a great hole in this part. Every human being is hanging there on a hook and no one has the will to get out of it and just jump down. They prefer hanging there until the end because they are afraid to be alone. It may be a painful way but in the end you'll find yourself being stronger than ever before because you fulfilled yourself and let all the fear behind you. So in the end this is his new, his own dream of which he never wants to wake up. He wants to be completely free and individual and that is what's giving him new strength in life, even though all the others are still insulting him.

Pretty personal and definitely in a complete wrong direction, but that's the way I'll always see it.

This song has a good beat in the beginning of it.
