Goodbye, Goodnight Lyrics
The nights are getting colder.
The red light's on, it's over.
To give up now doesn't make much sense.
So this is my goodbye.
Surprised, because I thought I could walk you home tonight,
but you're leaving me here on the defense.
Goodbye, I'm not going to waste this time,
this light that burns will keep on fading.
Goodnight, I'm not getting up off of this ride,
I'm holding tight until I can feel alive.
I've written you this letter,
got it back return to sender.
But I just can't remember you being quite like that.
Misunderstand, we're holding hands,
we're at the beach, we're throwing sand.
As the lights just go up all around us,
I can't believe it's over.
I'm sitting under falling stars.
Do you miss me where you are?
I'm making plans to be with you.
But have they come unglued?
What am I to do without you?
The nights are getting warm again.
They've let you go, I let you in.
Everything you're saying sounds right tonight.
The waves are crashing on and on.
We're running even if we're wrong.
This force is driving me to test the speed of light.
The red light's on, it's over.
To give up now doesn't make much sense.
So this is my goodbye.
Surprised, because I thought I could walk you home tonight,

This is quite possibly on of the best songs on Mae's album, Destination:Beautiful.
i used to not pay too much attention to this song, but i listened to it a few times in a row and found i really relate to it. i think it's simply about living. this light that burns will keep on fading- about how our life burns, but it eventually burns out. i also love This force is driving me to test the speed of light. i also think that it could be about just the ending of as stage in someone's life.
i think this is about a relationship where both peoples are having trouble but one in particular who still wants it. and who would do anything to save it.
this song is awesome. i think it's about a relationship that went rocky, they both went their separate ways, but in the end the relationship starts working out again. thus "The nights are getting warm again. They've let you go, I let you in. Everything you're saying sounds right tonight. ".
At first this song didn't really appeal to me, but now I really like it.
"So this is my goodbye. Surprised, because I thought I could walk you home tonight, but you're leaving me here on the defense." I see those as talking about a guy who thinks that a girl loves him, but then being rejected, and he's still kind of in shock about it. This song just speaks to me. Mae is amazing!
yeah it's definitely one of those songs you dismiss cause it's at the end but when you listen to it, it becomes your favorite song on the album. like copeland's when finally set free. yeah definitely about a relationship, where she wanted it to end but he didn't, but i bet she's off in her room missing him and writing a song like this too, because they don't want to admit to each other that they miss them.
another song describing my relationship i think it was more of a they both didnt want it to end but they both knew it had to
ughh. this song. it's perfect. it describes my relationship too bmx. disgustingly. i still have that hope though, always keep that. i love this song so much. mae is incredible.
This is most defiently my favorite mae song of all time. I saw them in concert last monday and while listening to this song already gets me emotional, hearing it live makes it so much more personally! I relate to this song so much and the S.M. remix is just as great!
P.S. The new album is totally wonderful! : )
every song off this album ROCKS.. mae is one of the best bands EVERRR.
