Twentythree Lyrics

I got to tell you that he waited all his life
For someone like you to come make the wrong things right
I know he didn't have the answers all the time
But you can't tell me that you've never told a lie

We're almost twenty-three and you're still mad at me
So much that I said to you and I want to take it back now
Twenty-three and it's so sad to me
You tell the world I'm dead to you
But I know you want me back now

Was it fun for you to watch him fall apart? (Watch me fall)
And suffocate him while you held him in your arms (in your arms)
I swear to God I wish he never let you in (let you in)
And I just hope we never hear from you again

We're almost twenty-three and you're still mad at me
So much that I said to you and I want to take it back now
Twenty-three and it's so sad to me
you tell the world I'm dead to you
But I know you want me back

Wasted on you (wasted on you)
Wasted on you (so much time I've)
Wasted on you (wasted on you)
Wasted on you
On you
On you

Twenty-three and you're still mad at me
So much that I said to you and I want to take it back now
Twenty-three and it's so sad to me
You tell the world I'm dead to you
But I know you want me back now

Because nobody else has explained it, and I know I can get annoyed if there's no explanation, I'll go for this one.

Basically, it's about a girl that hurt Ryan [lead singer]. You can pretty much tell that from the lyrics. However, Sean [violinist] sings lead on this one, which is why it says lines such as, "Was it fun for you to watch HIM fall apart?" This song is sung to that girl, and the "him" in question is Ryan. So the backing vocals for that example being, "Watch me fall" is Ryan singing to that girl. Cool concept, I think.

blinks Wow, I so cannot explain. I tried.

i love this song, especially the contrast between the verses where sean's is telling the person to stay away and the chorus where you can tell that there is some remorse in the whole situation

I love this song, and it is so catchy, I am quite surprised that not many people commented on it... well, here is my input, Sean Mackin has a genuinely nice vioce, he honestly sounds better during live performances that Ryan Key does (if you don't know what the live performances sound like, check out their DVD, Beyond Ocean Avenue) and I like how they do use the kind of contrast that they do, but the one thing that I really don't care for much is the fact that Sean keeps on talking about William, then it seems like he talks about himself, so was he in love with her also?? (or is it subliminal messages... watch out William, Seany-boy is trying to steal your ex...)

although I must admit, I do find this song quite vein... 'But I know you want me back ' but as I keep on stating, I do quite like this song.
