I think that this song is about a break up that was messy. Say the girl/other person is person X, and the person who did the breaking up is person Y.

Person Y and person X might ahve been together for awhile, and got pretty close. Then things happened, and it was a nasty break up. "It's okay to be angry and never let go. It only gets harder the more that you know" probably indicates that there was alot of fighting towards the end and how person X never really forgave person Y.

"When you get lonely if no one's around, you know that i'll catch you if you're falling down" probably is saying that person Y still wants to be a part of their life. And obviously still has some feelings for them.

So overall, the "translation" that I got from the song was a messy break up. And how both of them are pretty hurt by it, but still want to somehow be a part of eachothers life.

i really enjoy this song.. this song makes you think of when you are there adn you know its going to be a long haul, but you know in your heart you're gonna stick it out. I still agree this is a great song.

this song is beautiful. and i love the way it's just stuck in there in between two relatively happy-sounding songs.

umm its about someone who was in the band and is not anymore, and the falling out that resulted. At least thats what they said

this song makes me think about some of my friends and how we lost touch after graduation. we're not friends anymore but i still have my memories of them and they'll always hold a certain place in my heart.

ryan said that this song is about their former bassist (who i assume is their returning bassist, pete) and how hurt he was when he left the band. i think that's where, specifically, the line "We came together but you left alone" comes from.

I don't say this about songs to often but it's a beautiful song the lyrics and the music.

this song is incredible... it mkaes me think of friendships... a friendship that is over...and one person still desires and cherishes what that friendship once was and still wishes that the friendship was there and strong... to me i think this song is about a friendship that has been lost... the first friend regrets that the friendship is over and still loves the other friend...and wants the friend to know that no matter what he or she is going through the first friend will be there and can understand what he/she is going through...

even if the first friend is never forgiven and the friendship is never repaired the first friend will always be there to offer help and support where needed and hopefully one day the second friend will realize the amopunt of love the first friend has for her/him and one day they will both be friends again....
