Hain's Point Lyrics
I read somewhere that every wall's a door to something new
Well if that's true-why can't i get through?
Cause I'm not who I thought I was
And I can't explain
But it feels like...I'm falling through a hole in my heart
Just falling through a hole in my heart
Don't try to reach for nothing at all
I could walk around--fall in love with a face or two
But it wouldn't be you--no it wouldn't be you
Cause you're not who I thought you were
No I can't explain
No, no I can't explain
But it feels like I'm falling through a hole in my heart
Falling through a hole in my heart.
Don't try to reach for nothing at all.
I can't, I can't explain.
Well if that's true-why can't i get through?
And I can't explain
Just falling through a hole in my heart
Don't try to reach for nothing at all
But it wouldn't be you--no it wouldn't be you
No, no I can't explain
Falling through a hole in my heart.
Don't try to reach for nothing at all.

I love this line: "I could walk around--fall in love with a face or two But it wouldn't be you--no it wouldn't be you"
Simply because it explains my experience with relationships perfectly. It's like you know it's over and you know you could just as easily fall in love with someone new, perhaps someone better for you, but it's so hard to start again when all you can think about is where you are now.
Amazing, simply amazing.
I used to think this was merely a decent song, but like much of the second Foo Fighters CD, its meaning became so much deeper after going through a divorce. Rites of Spring was all about total emotional release, and to me this song is their best -- when I hear the opening chords, the hair on the back of my neck starts to stand up, and by the time the vocals kick in I've got chills running all the way down my body. oh yeah, if you're ever in DC, rent a bike and visit Hain's Point (at the eastern tip of East Potomac Park) and its larger-than-life sculpture, "The Awakening".
I almost forgot -- "don't try to reach for nothing at all" is a credo for anyone to live by....
Right on, pawnshop trash, I just recently went through a broken up engagement, and this song has adopted all new meaning. I have a similar reaction to this song, as well as "for want of".
one of the best bands ever.
