Soul Lyrics
Over my head
Stare at your feelings
To see where they end
For someone else to break you
From the inside
You've been so composed
But we all know there's
Always something
Tearing you apart
Always so much longer
Than you counted on
It hits you so much harder
Than you thought
But you don't worry
Don't worry
Cuz you got soul
You're so misunderstood
I spent all my wishes
Wishing times were good
When I still could
Wait around here
For someone else to take me
Past the good side
At it for so long
You don't show there's
Always something tearing you apart
It's "Hang out MY window/over YOUR head"
I think this is such a cool song. To me it's about a guy either dating or just wanting this girl. She's one of those people that is horribly tortured and horribly deep that it just makes you want to scream GET OVER IT! My absolute fav lines are "I spent all my wishes, wishing times were good, when I still could" I don't know how they fit into the story I think he's telling, but they're really cool even out on their own.
to me, MB20 r in leagues with GooGooDolls with their lyrical brilliance. I saw them live at Milton Keynes 3 yrs ago wen they were supporting Bon Jovi, they kicked ass!
I agree with Jag3892, it's about a guy who likes a girl who's too interested in being all hurt and tortured so she can't appreciate what's going on now.
That is not what I got from it. I believe it's about a girl that tries to get through the day, everyday, but she's exhausted inside. And she doesn't worry, she doesn't complain about it ("You don't show there's Always something tearing you apart " shows that she isn't some whiny tortured girl) because she knows she has more soul than most people.

THANK YOU...perfectly described aka exactly what i wanted to say but couldn't figure out how to
This song isn't necessarily about a girl or a guy... It's about someone who may be stressed on the inside, at least that's what everyone thinks, but they don't show it on the outside, and they don't worry about things outside of their control -- he/she just gets through each day like any other person.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Or it could be about, you know, rape.
I love this song because its GOT so much soul. Especially if you see it performed live. The band knocks it out of the park!
But in terms of the lyrics, I think its about someone who does feel things really intensely and have extreme passions. Maybe he's singing it to someone who's super emotional.
I don't think it's necessarily negative though because the person he's singing about, he ADMIRES their soulfulness. Its also maybe about someone who's hiding their soul instead of releasing it.
He's kind of reassuring the person throughout the song that maybe its OK to release it .. "don't worry .. don't worry .. you've got SOUL!"
