Hotel Paper Lyrics
I write mostly on hotel paper
Knowing that my thoughts will never leave this room
I'd be out of line telling you, "leave her"
So I lie lonely surrounded by you
Lately I can't be happy for no one
They think I need some time to myself
I try to smile but I can't remember
And I know tomorrow there'll be nothing else
And I
I wanted to be
Giving you everything that she's not giving
And I
I wanted to see
'Cause I didn't believe what I'd been hearing
You turned out to be more than I bargained for
And I can tell that you need to get away
Forgive me if I admit that I'd love to love you
We both realized it way too late
And I
I wanted to be
Giving you everything that she's not giving
And I
I wanted to see
'Cause I didn't believe what I'd been hearing
Maybe this wind blowing in just came from the ocean
I write mostly on hotel paper
Knowing that my thoughts will never leave this room
I'd be out of line telling you, "leave her"
So I lie lonely surrounded by you
They think I need some time to myself
I try to smile but I can't remember
And I know tomorrow there'll be nothing else
I wanted to be
Giving you everything that she's not giving
And I
I wanted to see
'Cause I didn't believe what I'd been hearing
And I can tell that you need to get away
Forgive me if I admit that I'd love to love you
We both realized it way too late
I wanted to be
Giving you everything that she's not giving
And I
I wanted to see
'Cause I didn't believe what I'd been hearing

to Fallout, the song was written about her brief "under radar" relationship with Taylor Hanson.
This is probably her most personal song on the cd,, being the abum title... i love her
awwesome
Ok, first of all some of the lyrics are wrong. Here is how it is in the CD booklet:
i write mostly on hotel paper knowing that my thoughts will never leave this room i'd be out of line telling you, "leave her" so i lie lonely surrounded by you by you
lately i can't be happy for no one they think i need some time to myself i try to smile but i can't remember and i know tomorrow there'll be nothing else
chorus: and i wanted to be giving you everything that she's not giving and i wanted to see 'cause i didn't believe what i'd be hearing you turned out to be more than i bargained for and i can tell that you need to get away forgive me if i admit that i'd love to love you we both realized it way too late
chorus repeats
maybe this wind blowing in just came from the ocean i write mostly on hotel paper
Truely, this is an amazing, inspirational song. I would agree that it is her most personal song. Actually, this new CD seems to be more personal for Michelle. Most of the underlyling meaning to her songs state the same thing. It's about the past, about someone she used to love but now he's all gone. Also, it's about her place right now, where she is headed and how she feels about it. I feel the CD proves that Michelle has grown as a singer/writer.
There is a particular quote in this song that I feel is extremely DEEP.
"Maybe this wind blowing in just came from the ocean"
Just think about it for awhile, Michelle is an awesome writer.
I cant belive only three people have commented on this!!!! This is probably the best song on her new cd.. personal, and deeply written
Basically the song is about her feelings toward her ex's new girlfriend. Shes looking back on their relationship saying that things could have been done so much better ("we both realized it way too late") and how shes maybe feeling some jealously towards the new girl because shes still very much into her ex.
This is the first Hotel Paper song that doesnt relate to my ex. Well I could relate it to him if I really tried, but I relate it alot better to my friend. Me and him were really close for awhile and he had always had feelings for me, but I didnt know my feelings for him until he started dating this other girl. And after him and her were going out all I could write were songs about him and how I messed up. And so many times I just wanted to tell him to leave her, but what made it worse was that she was one of my friends. He even told me he liked me more than her. But I knew I screwed up, it was too late, cuz even after they did break up, she still liked him a lot and I couldnt do that to her. So yeah, technically to me, this song is about someone who realized her feelings for someone after it was too late.
Great song. I really like it. does anybody know who the guy is that she wrote this about?
It's just an amazing song. Word's cannot describe the simplicity in it, but she makes it absolutely beautiful.
Well, first of all, this song is definately one of the "deep thinking" ones. Michelle really but a lot into this song. in my point of view, it's like two definately close friends. they were always there forn eachother and everything. but when the guy gets a g/f, then the girl finally realizes, she loves him, she wanted to be much more than friends. and... i guess she's way too late. it's something like "take your chances", and that's a statement i can definately relate to.
