Where Are You Now? Lyrics

Maybe I'll be better on my own
No one ever seems to understand me
It's easier for me to be alone
But there's still a piece of me that feels so empty
I've been all over the world
I've seen a million different places
But through the crowds and all the faces
I'm still out there looking for you

Oh,
Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by
With never ever knowing at all
What is the chance
Of finding you out there
Do I have to wait forever

I write about the things I'll never known
And I can't find a moment just to slow down
Makes me think I'll never have the chance
To figure out (To figure out)
What it's all about (What it's all about)
So tell me (Tell me)
What it's all about
Cause

Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by
With never ever knowing at all
What is the chance
Of finding you out there
Do I have to wait forever?

Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by
With never ever knowing at all
And I still don't know
Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by
With never ever knowing at all
What is the chance?
Of finding you out there
Or do I have to wait
Or do I have to wait forever?

Yay I'm the first to comment.

Pretty-much your basic - "Where-is-my-soulmate?-song"

It kind of reminds me of Avril Lavigne's - I'm With You, and unfortunately that song has been overplayed to the point of it's meaning being somewhat diminished, imo.

Anyway. About MICHELLE BRANCH'S song here. It's decent, but her new CD in general (this song being a good reflection) isn't as unique/catchy, in lyrics, as I felt her first CD was. Again, only my opinion. :) I still think she's a great artist who originated out of an area close to me (Sedona) .. so that just makes her a little more special in my eyes.

i dont agree with you, I think lyrically hernew cd is better maybe its just that her new cd shes trying to use her own experiences, rather than making things up, i still dont know if shes experienced enough of life to comup with BRILLIANT lyrics, But, being 18, i love the lyrics, cus well, its kinda like the same experiences, nothing to big that went bad in life, but you feel like its the end i love her, shes soooo great!

this song is pretty much self-explanatory. i think this song is wonderfully upbeat... like she isn't moping around until she can find her special someone... she's actively looking around and getting sorta frustrated. and i like both her cds. i guess i don't compare that much. i personally don't get her new music video for are you happy now... i liked goodbye to you and all you wanted's music videos...

i love this song. i could SO relate to it. i remember going to harry potter midnight madness and getting the harry potter book and finishing it monday morning, while listening to this song so i always think of the death of sirius black when i hear this song. if that has to do with anything.

Someones looking for their soul mate, n kinda gettin sick of it. makes me think of the chic on sex n the city saying," ive been dating since i was 15, im exhausted, where is he??" :P

This song, like all of Michelle Branch's, I relate to this song a lot. I always feel I'd be better on my own bcuz no one does seem to understand me, not even my closest friends. And then in the second verse, "I write about the things I'll never know." I love writing songs and poems. Usually they are about my expiriences, but some times I like to write them about love even tho I've never been in love and I dont know what its like. And then of corse, everyone can relate to looking for that special someone which is the main point of the song, but I like to look at the little things that most people overlook about songs.

it reminds me of thinkin bout someone...this particular person and endin it really ugly but still thinkin obut that person nd questioning if "he" was ever "the one" for u. (I'm trying to get back With never ever knowing at al)...that kinda gave me the idea bout her never knowingl

I LOVE Michelle Branch's CD Hotel Paper, although I don't know anything about her personal life I'll just interpret this strictly from lyrics:

" I write about the things I'll never known " It shows her innocence. It's kind of like how when I try to write romance stories, and she writes romantic songs.

She's trying to "slow down", thinking about life, and dreaming about when she will finally meet "the one".

"Where are you now? I'm trying to get back With never ever knowing at all " She keeps looking for him, even if she's never had somebody before.
