I totally dig the words to this song. They don't paint a very attractive picture & I guess that's the point! I'm sure the second verse is about crying so much that it's all over you & your clothes & probably the only song that says it that way! Short song, brilliant. I think it's about being in love w/a stripper & getting the nerve to go see her & there is a guy already w/her. No one else has commented here & I am sure I am right. ;-)

I always thought this was in the mirrored pay to view stalls with a stripper. He could see the dude in the next room/stall. I have to think that maybe the snot isn't supposed to refer to "tears" though.
That lyric is also taken/revised from the Love song "Live and Let Live". This is definitely one of the best songs Spoon has ever recorded. I know it is one of Brit's favorites. I think Drake Tungsten digs it too.
terri kaye, I agree with your interpretation because that's how I saw it too. It's the "take it off and take it off again, as the crackers watch you take it off again" that makes her a stripper. That and his crying, which is one symptom of loving a stripper.
I'm also getting the crying from the snot that's dried on his pants.
i'm pretty sure the 'snot' caked into his pants is not referring to nasal excretion. he is watching a stripper...a very good stripper. i think this song is about being hopelessly obsessed with a stripper he can never have.
